Medina inaugurates improved Azua-Barahona highway

President Danilo Medina was in Azua on 5 August 2020 for the inauguration of the 72-kilometer long reconstructed and expanded Azua-Barahona highway.

Public Works Minister Ramon Pepin, in his keynote speech, said that the improvements enhance safety and provide significant savings in travel time and vehicle operating costs for users.

“This road was designed for a travel speed of 80 km / h, and has two lanes of 3.65 meters wide, two-meter sidewalks, four-inch asphalt folder, drainage system, slope stabilization and acceleration lane,” he said.

He also explained that the road has informative, preventive, and regulatory indications for its users’ safety.
