Omega was born on the town of Bonao, Dominican Republic son of Ercilia de La Rosa and Sergio Peter. He grew up in Pantoja, one of the neighborhoods of central Santo Domingo, the capital of the country, where he introduced himself to the genre. Is currently married to Miguelina Sanche, they have two daughters Alejandra and Mariela Sanche.I know who he is, but my question was" who is Omega"
It's called Mambo - and sometimes can be quite fun to dance to; especially late in the night...
That he snuck out without paying doesn't surprise me
He is known as a bad guy who beats up wimmen... a bad seed so to speak
My point is nobody on the planet knows who this guy is. If he was eaten by a shark, it what not even make " the National Enquirer" So he is on a hunger strike OKAYYY. I even knew about a Panda bear that lost her cub before I knew about this" cornball" and his hunger strike.
BTW The name omega is associated with excellence and he does not fit the bill. SEIKO is more like it then OMEGA.
What s up with all the hate ?
Hey, he doesn't seem to be the smartest guy around, but I love his music (obviously I am not the only one).:classic: Great to dance to, it's time to get over merengue tipico folks![]()
Omega is an US deportee who got a second chance in life. He has been trying to blow that second chance very hard, and a tragedy is nearby. I guess some people will never learn. For all I care, let him rot in jail.
Well, I don't think DOP 200K per gig is enough to get rich very fast. Omega brings a band of 10-12 musicians to every gig. In DR a band musician charges about DOP 5K per gig. He still has to arrange for transportation for band and instruments, clothing for shows for the whole band, marketing, office expenses, employees, recording and rehearse facilities, out-of-court settlement (kidding haha). And those gigs don't come very easy after a few months...

Fortunately, Mambo, Merengue de calle or whetever you wanna call it, is a fad, just like Meren-house was a fad back in the 90's, and just like Meren-house, this genre is also fading way into the pages of history. I don't hear Merengue de calle in the streets anymore, I go to the clubs, and none of them play that music anymore, nor do people ask for it, that type of music is dying pretty quickly. As for Merengue Tipico, which is the oginal Merengue BTW, it has been popular for more than a century in DR, and nowadays is experiencing probably its best times, at least in the Cibao. I hear tipico every where in Santiago, in the colmados, in the streets, in the radio, heck even in the fancy clubs. Merengue Tipico bands have live presentation in some of the best clubs in Santiago several times a week, and those parties are always full.
