The Chinese are smart and they know how to play the game. They run circles around the local business owners no matter who the host country may be.

They had a major dust up further down the road around Av.Duarte y 27 de Feb about 10 years ago because the Chinese run shops were only hiring Haitians. A lot of cussin and fussin ensued and afterwards they started hiring more Dominicans but it was short lived.

The Chinese tend to favor the Haitians over the Dominicans, according to what I was told by a Chinese business owner down in the Capital, because they work harder and steal less.

All of these Chinese business owners are members of their local Chinese Business Association/ "Guanxi" networks. These same associations have no problem with "lobbying"/ playing politics to make things run as smooth as possible for their fellow countrymen and I hate to say it but this probably includes immigration related issues as well.

Talk about a rabbit hole...
One could easy write a book about this topic.

They all take credit cards and offer comprobante fiscals though, I think the DGII won that battle. But employment-wise, they are definitely winning right now.

Yes, you must live a sheltered existence. And I don't have a friend who has a neck tattoo either. What does that have to do with anything here?
(tattoos) they usually go hand in hand with illegal activities, more so than skin shade. Sheltered in that I choose not to associate with people that find themselves on the wrong end of the law.

Of course they weren't proven guilty. They were released without going near a court.
Based on my own experiences, with Immigration it's about the law, with the PN it's about money. I hope I live long enough to see the corrupt culture of the PN change for the better.

Are we talking 1970's Outlaws or 2023 personal fashion statements for people of all ages?

Nonsense.
My son is a tattoo artist in Houston, TX and the majority of his best repeat customers for custom work are well paid professionals. This also includes a couple of high profile athletes who play for Houston's national sports franchises.

Why do you continue blaming the people and not the PN?

For as long as I have been living down here I have never heard about nor have I ever spoken with a person was detained by Immigration and released the following morning.

This is only done by the PN. The reason they do it has absolutely nothing to do with immigration, tattoos or a person's appearance and this includes their skin color. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to educate themselves.

I just asked my kid about this, when his older bro was detained overnight a year ago or so. He said it was the policia, and she was muy fea.

because 9 times out of 10 if not more, it is the people, that's why. Athletes and entertainers of course tattoos are fashionable, and maybe plumbers. Getting a neck and face tattoo indicates a personality issue. It is a banner that screams, "I am unemployable and don't care."

Many people that experience conflict with immigration (or the PD for that matter) display a confrontational attitude. Instead of complying with a document request and saying, " of course officer, I understand." it turns into a machismo contest, we know who wins that every time.

Things are changing. I have no tattoos, but a few days ago Santiago Matias won a Soberano and, well, look at his arms...

Not too long ago having a visible tattoo was reason enough to disqualify someone from winning a Soberano. This is like winning an Oscar in Los Angeles.

No tattoos in the neck though. lol

Who is judging others simply by their appearance now?
Downstairs and out back is this colmado located on a small riverbank. Each day beginning at 7am enter the drooping pants crowd on 100 dollar motorbikes with naked lady seat covers. The other wave is the 250-bag lambones unshaven and dirty t-shirts. They are clearly not sending their best, Ms Maria. The music of choice is Tokisha and Bad Bunny. Nothing sums up an "at one glance" judgement better than this crowd of savvy motivated professionals. Of course you judge by appearance and their collateral elements. On Wall Street don't they say "Dress for the job you want to have"??
