a Dominican agent can tell in 20 seconds if someone was born here or elsewhere via the accent. Just like I can discern an English accent from South Africa, England or Australia. This would indicate other components to an arrest of a subject.
Unfortunately, you're wrong again. My friend is a Dominican, born in the DR and yet the PN arrested her.

Correct about her Haitian heritage. As for being released shortly afterwards, she was twice held four a few hours and once overnight - something I would dread.
Uncomfortable, but the fact is she was released, not charged with anything nor deported. A question that I think is relevant. Was she picked up just by herself or with a group of perhaps Haitians?

El Hijo de Manolo

It's outrageous, egregious, preposterous!

For the first time in 2023, migracion boarded our guagua. As in the past, it was at Autopista de las Americas and De Gaulle. For the first time ever that I've seen, they nabbed a Haitian.
However, the guagua waited for him and he was released in about a minute. I don´t know if he had papers and a visa or money or all 3. But he was back on the guagua and off we went.

I´m hoping he had a visa or cedula so that he was here legally. I would like to think that the migracion are actually following the laws they deem to enforce.
Curious why autopista, migración and guagua were not portrayed as highway, immigration and the bus. I read the post very interesting, but it was in English I think.

I think liar is a tad drastic. How about a fiction writer. So, you claim there are color police in Sosua. You claim to have two dark skin cedula carrying Dominican friends that have been picked up and detained overnight on multiple occasions. This is a tall tale!
I would like to see you tell me to my face,I'm here in Sosua right now let's meet a-hole....

It does not mean any of the stories related here are fiction.
There are individuals who have proffered that idea more than one time without any proof whatsoever.
(insert the "eye roll" emoji here)
I posted that if one needs proof I would provide the name of the owner of the restaurant and they can go to said restaurant and meet face to face with the Dominican in person that was held overnight, what more proof can I provide,do you think that if I walk over to the PN station that I could get the police to give me a written statement?? What a joke.

By herself except when she was with her twelve year old son.

I hear the immigration officers are issued color swatches when they are working in the field.

I will gladly take having to deal with Immigration Officers over having to deal with the PN any day of the week.

Seriously? There is a world of difference between a British accent and an Australian one. Not just pronunciation but also intonation. Australians go up at the end of each sentence for example.
My great aunt Betty , born in Newcastle England used to drive her parents crazy. She could hear somebody speak and immediately mimic their accent and would spend a few days talking like that and drive everyone in the family nuts. Us kids loved though. By the time she was thirty she was a linguist working for the UK foreign service. She was fluent in English, French, Portugues, Spanish, German , Dutch and Afrikaans, and functional in Hindi and several african tribal languages. I wish I would have inherited some of that ability.
