You can click on the link for a discussion on deporting Haitian pregnant women.

Migracion is busy deporting many Haitians that are not women and/or not pregnant.

And it should be possible to renew the 6 months 4 times. After two years one should become a resident.
That is not how the DR does it. You start the residency process in your home country with a residency visa after you provide the requisite documents.
You don't enter the DR first and try to get residency. I see the chances of what you suggest happening as less than zero, if that were possible.

I found Medellin to cold. I also saw Bogota and Cartagena. Not sure. I would keep looking. Cali maybe. Colombia is a very popular digital nomad country.
Yes, Bogota is cold. Cartagena is not but a bit too touristy for my liking. Medellin is the city of eternal spring, not as cold as either Manizales or Bogota. Cali is ok but more crime ridden and since my daughters will visit me from the states this is a factor for me. Certain neighborhoods of Medellin I find to be very safe.

I will watch this more closely later, but does he provide any explanation as to why illegals from any country would go into these offices and register their illegality?

I watched the above video again. There will be almost zero benefit from opening the offices and expecting illegals to voluntarily come in to be finger printed.
The benefit will be that people in the offices get some type of salary and that is about it. What is the motivation for an illegal alien to go anywhere near such an office?

Now you know why I became a DR citizen. Migracion is better now then they were, but that isn't saying much when it comes to things like you mention.

Will you be going into one of the offices to declare your "illegality"? I suspect not.

Have you tried going to one of their branch offices? Maybe they can help you.

I also think he should be able to fix it. I recently changed my email/username and password by calling them. I am soon going to renew. Will start it online just before I go into Santo Domingo again. 809 508 2555 is the number for DGM.

More government jobs and wasteful spending for their cronies under the guise of saving the nation?
Unless they are offering some sort of benefits or guarantees to the people who are supposed to come in an register , I would think these offices will be empty and closed down shortly thereafter.

If not then follow the money folks...

The Haitians probably think the registration plan is a trap. They'll go in to register and immediately be arrested and deported.

According to the rumor mill, pregnant Haitian women demand in public hospitals has gone through a noticeable decrease on a nationwide scale.

From another forum on the DR:

The first two Foreign Registry offices of 38 have been opened in Dajabon and Elias Pina provinces:

Government today opens offices for the registration of foreigners in Dajabón and Elías Piña

https://listindiario.com/la-republica/2 … xtranjeros

A register of foreigners is a requirement of the immigration law aparently and most Latin American countries and even the USA have such registers.

A permanent resident or Visa holder is required to register within 15 days of arrival in Colombia for example.

This morning, we will be inaugurating in Dajabón and Elías Piña, the first offices for the Foreigners Registry, as agreed in the National Migration Council, we will always act in accordance with the Law. #Registroextranjeros

This has come about from last week's meeting of the National Migratory Council and in response to the Haiti crisis.

My question is:

Will legal residents of all nationalities in DR also have to register at one's provincial office giving one's address and contact details?
