By getting paid illegally, do you mean that the overstayers aren't declaring their income to the government from performing?
For anyone entering on a tourist card , it is illegal for them to work at all from day 1 when they enter the DR.
Getting paid for work in the DR is definite grounds for being deported. Do you think they report the illegally earned money?

And you are?
I have never earned enough from playing gigs that it needed to be reported. It is a good question yet totally irrelevant to the issue of illegals working.
I do understand why you conflated the two topics. Thanks for that. I get more oppportunity to explain that way.

I do hope that explains the situation. Anyone that enters on a tourist card cannot legally work playing music nor working for any other business in the DR.

There are people here for decades that make over 100K US a year and never even bothered to get Residency. Illegal and Tolerated are two different things in the DR..............

Of course there are. And exactly why I point it out.

When illegal is mentioned it means Haitian in the DR. People from tourist card countries can do what they want forever and ever and that is a long time.
I think I might have mentioned that once before, no?

A few of our Haitian students have been coming and going with a Haitian woman who is not their mother because of the activities of immigration. She is a legal resident, maybe even a Dominican citizen. She is light skinned and was married to a Dominican guy. She said Immigration never even asks her for papers because they think she is Dominican. I think all but one of our Haitian students were born in the DR. Several are waiting for their American residency papers.

Good luck with getting their US residency now. Read the post on Haitians not allowed in the US............................

How exactly where they getting green cards in the USA? Do they have family members in the USA that are legal residents? As far as I know, that is the only way they could be in process for a green card. Trumps new edict might shut even that down.

Might? It will for sure. And for people from Venezuela who are on a different list do not go to MIA with your Visa. Just pick another airport.............The "Back Room" is full of Venezuelans...........

Another effort to enforce work regulations? Will it work? In a manner of speaking... Just another example of the DR ingoring its own laws.

Rosario’s 2024 warning on migration enforcement

In October 2024, Rosario publicly challenged President Luis Abinader to enforce migration policies consistently, following comments by Agriculture Minister Limber Cruz defending the use of undocumented Haitian labor. Rosario pointed out that the 2014 Migration Law’s regularization plan should have been used to legalize these workers rather than circumvented. He accused Cruz of violating national law and profiting from human-trafficking networks that exploit irregular migrants.

Rosario concluded that without accountability, both for business owners who hire undocumented workers and for officials who enable them, sovereignty and the rule of law will continue to erode. “If we truly defend our national identity, we must also defend our laws,” he said.

BINGO!!! Not a chance,LOL.
You are correct. If a person who arrived on a tourist card reported income in the DR, they would face deportation since it would be illegal to work here when entering on a tourist card.

Father is an American citizen, child is a declared and registered citizen, just waiting for the mothers paperwork.

Shouldn't affect them, they have already started the process and been approved at the first level.
I would not bet on that one. The exemption reads for current holders of Residency. You better check with a US Immigration Lawyer................

Who is exempt from the ban

  • 1. Green card holders
    2. Dual citizens, including U.S. citizens who also have citizenship of one of the banned countries

Then the child is also a US citizen. Should not be an issue at all for that child.
My friend here had a child with a Dominican mother. He had to go to the US Embassy in SD many times, get all sorts of documentation and it took quite awhile. But he did get her a US Passport. That was 20 years ago. So yes she is a US citizen, but she has to prove it to the US...............She can't travel with any kind of Visa on a Haitian Passport. She needs a US one........

100% aGREED
The DR government would rather deport them than collect the money. Each and every one of those licensed foreign club/ bar/ restaurant owners operating along (pick one) the beach must be pooping their brittigages.
SMH...

Goes without saying.

Should be possible for the parent to do. Nobody said the paperwork was simple.

Also you have to take a DNA test along with the child to verify you are the father. You pay and wait for the result. This before they do anything..........
