President Luis Abinader explained that the increased supervision rates of the Ministry of Housing and Building (Mived) will fund enhanced construction inspections on behalf of the government.

Will the increase of rates bring about an increase of nonconformance penalties? Doubt it! Maybe it will bring an increase of favors?

I have seen a few signs where they have suspended construction, Sometimes they are up for months and other times a week or two. I asked a friend who is both an engineer and architect. He said rarely is it for faulty construction, normal for not paying some fee.
