Arresting people for playing music too loud at night is not a violation of human rights. Not even close.

I do recall years ago when people complained about loud music late at night, there were those that told them if they didn't like the DR they could leave.
In fact, it is Dominicans that suffer as well as gringos. I am glad to see the noise laws enforced, but that should happen more often than it does.

You can only be arrested in DR for playing loud music if there is a signed order by a judge or 2, if there is a pending case and were already "out-counseled" in the fiscalia or 3, if the popo show up and you make a scene and things escalate out of control. To support this, I would direct you to article 224, 27, arresto en flagrancia, arresto en situaciones de urgencia, it is true that a singed arrest order is not practical and/or necessary. However, to conduct an ordinary arrest, an order must be petitioned by the fiscal and signed by a judge.

I thnk they do the arrests for a lot less formality, but that is just a guess. They have tons, quite literally tons, of confiscated speakers, which may be done without the need for an arrest.

And Windy is right this has nothing to do with these so called “human rights”, but arrest and rights for DR persons is covered in the civil and penal code bodies of work. whenever I hear of “human rights” there’s some rabble rouser not far away!
