Ministry of Public Works to tackle disrepair of Duarte Bridge

The Ministry of Public Works is meeting with the contractors of the repairs on the Duarte Bridge over the Ozama River. For several weeks the bridge was closed and contractors worked on the repairs of the bridge joints. But now reporters say the problem is again apparent.

Another Trujillo bridge but this one is vital to the capital yet I have never seen regular maintenance on this bridge or any other . Going east, the lane on the north side has regular problems . Some years ago , some enterprising thieves tried to steal the bolts holding the bridge together. The beautiful bridge to the north of San Pedro used to suffer major problems that have never been properly fixed and likewise the quite modern bridge over the Rio Soco has had most of its fittings stolen. There seems to be a disdain for maintenance of essential roads and bridges .
