..."4. We believe that in the beginning, God created all things in six, 24-hour days and rested on the seventh day. We believe that God made man in His own image, with a free will, a moral character, and a spiritual nature. (Genesis 1:26-27; Colossians 1:16, 17; John 1:1-13)

5. We believe that human life is sacred and begins at conception. God forms a human being in the womb as either a genetic male or a genetic female. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one’s gender. A Christian must not take part in any destruction of human life, born or unborn; therefore, we cannot endorse or allow abortive contraceptives. (Isaiah 44:24; Psalm 139:15; Jeremiah 1:5; Luke 1:44; Luke 18:20; Romans 1:26-29, Matthew 19:4)"... From Christian Aid Missionaries https://christianaidministries.org/what-we-believe/

Observations:

https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SP.DYN.CBRT.IN?end=2019&locations=HT&start=2019&view=map / birthrate - Haiti 24/DR 19/ USA 11/Canada 10/ Germany 9

https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SP.DYN.CONU.ZS?locations=HT
Access to contraception - Haiti -34%/ Dominican Republic 70/USA 74%/ Canada 85% /Germany 67% (?) (Because I am a bit of geek -https://www.dw.com/en/free-prescribed-contraception-for-low-earners/a-38161577)

https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SH.STA.MMRT?locations=HT Maternal death rate - Haiti 480 / DR 75 / USA 19 /Canada 10/ Germany 7

Infant mortality https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SP.DYN.IMRT.IN?locations=HT. Haiti 48/ DR 24/ USA 6/ Canada 4/ Germany 3

AND then compare
GDP per person - https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/NY.GDP.PCAP.PP.CD. Haiti $3094/ DR $17,929/ USA $63,413/Canada $48,091/ USA $63,413? Germany 54,263

"In general, poor countries tend to have higher levels of fertility than rich countries. ... In countries where GDP per capita is above $10,000 per year, women tend to give birth to no more than two children. This decreasing relationship between fertility and income is well known to economists and demographers alike." https://www.stlouisfed.org/on-the-economy/2016/december/link-fertility-income

Comment -

There is a very wide divergence among Christian denominations on the issue of contraception.

But those groups that preach and teach in Haiti and do NOT promote birth control & family planning
are in opposition to the Government of Haiti

And the United States - https://www.usaid.gov/global-health/health-areas/family-planning/resources/impact-brief-haiti

To say that one "helps" to reduce poverty but opposes birth control? https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/oxymoron

This sort of group only succeeds in keeping the poor poor.

No Rambo rescue? As for money paid, we may never know that.

Then, until the next kidnappings in Haiti....

I suspect that won't be long. A couple two, three weeks.
I watched the news report from the states and they said they just walked out, walked single file on the highway, and made it to a coast guard plane. Something isn't right.

"Daring escape" -- as in the missionaries were ALLOWED to leave..
Not as if 12 white people dressed as Amish are going to be walking about unnoticed.

And - of course the ransom was paid by a "third party" -

So we will watch for who the kidnappers target next.... I am surprised that the UN representatives have not all left. Certainly there is enough venom against them

And rightly so.

Snuck out past guards w/ a squawking baby ?
High risk !
Possible the kidnapping gang realized there would be no payoff and got tired of taking care of all these people?.
Killing the victims would stir up a hornets nest.
When they "escape" it saves face.

So a ransom was paid. What a surprise. As you say, the kidnappers have every incentive to seek their next victims.

I received some street level info indicating possible pedophilia acts by members of the group on young Haitian boy's. Presumably, this kidnapping was more to do with anger than ransom. Of course there is no proof regarding this but I don't believe the news media either.

After such a long internment the gang had to be glad to be rid of the pesky missionaries and the kids.
HUGH discount on the ransom to let them just walk away one morn.
Kidnappers likely glad to end it with something.
Everyone saves face and the lord gets a chance to intervene in the missionaries view.
A perfect solution.

Tell them Haiti does not need any more religion either.
They have this strong motive to save people and cannot help themselves.

Kidnappers learned a good lesson here.
Never kidnap poor people and never ever missionaries.

As someone who was a free-lance journalist down there -- THANK YOU for giving us the NEWS - which only comes from STREET LEVEL and therefore, most likely, the truth. .... here - read all about the Dominican Republic and their Haitian brothers and sisters... I did 14 years studying there - in LT and StoDom --
I did not have a car

best part of the missionary kidnapping is that no one died.
I certainly would think it would be a valid and devout thing for a group of snippers would get together and shoot the gang who did it.. Since they essentially have a YOU-TUBE channel...

Both my next door Haitian neighbor and I have both agreed they we will pull the triggers ourselves.

The Crips have taken over Haiti...

There out to be some DomYorks would would be willing to help their brothers and sister on the other side of Island.

I am sure that I can bring an ARMY OF GRANDMOTHERS

Wouldn't just be easier to SHOOT them down...

I mean... Let us know when you guys are ready... It'd sure be faster than the Wall.. I have driven the border -- And -- it's gonna be a long time coming.,,..

On the contrary -- I think that the Haitians most likely ADORED the missionaires

and they held out a very long time

And probably would have no compution in killing them

Missionaires have used Haiti as a cash crop ---FOR A CENTRY

They are the leader of the "Lords of Poverty " Gang of NGOs that have used what I can only call "poverty porn.

photos of sickly Haitian children

..Which keeps Tham all very comfortable in their homes, living on money that was meant for the poor....... I have dealt with missionaries of all stripes......

"IF the next ransom. ?)

ANY CARE TO SPECULATE?

Sharika and Juan Lois and Wyclef could solve this in a heartbeat...

BIG CONCERT --- which is a very beautiful town -- since clearly the author of that wiki had never been there https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bel_Air,_Haiti
