Usually, US born Dominicans that request their Dominican citizenship are not sworn in as citizens by the President of the DR. Well, that will not be the case this coming September. Luis Abinader will be in New York for the UN's 76 general assembly. During this time, he will sworn in over 2,000 US born Dominicans as citizens of the DR. Among them is the son of Charytín Goico, one of the more well known Dominican television personality and well known among Hispanics in the US and in several Latin American countries.

As said before, it's not everyday that US born Dominicans are sworn in as Dominican citizens by the President of the DR while in NY (or even in the DR, quite frankly).

According to Diario Libre, tomorrow the President will be at the event at United Palace in Washington Heights.

El jefe de Estado tendrá un conversatorio con funcionarios electos de origen dominicano, el liderazgo de la comunidad dominicana en New York, así como con hijos de dominicanos nacidos en Estados Unidos y nacionalizados dominicanos, entre 7:30pm - 8:30 pm, en el United Palace.

The actual total was of over 2,500. The event was split in two, one part was at Armory Track and the other part at United Palace instead of having all 2,500 plus in one place. That's why some articles mentioned one or the other, but in reality it was in both. lol Due to Covid, anyone not showing their vaccine card was not allowed in.

This was the one at Armory Track which took place in the afternoon.
