Motorcycles outnumber cars in Dominican households

The 2022 Dominican Republic National Census has revealed more households have motorcycles than cars. According to the National Office of Statistics (ONE), over 32% of Dominican homes own a motorcycle, compared to just 24% with private vehicles. This is a shit in transportation preferences among Dominicans.

Of the 3.7 million households surveyed, over 1.2 million reported owning a motorcycle, while approximately 900,000 owned a private vehicle. This trend is particularly evident in urban areas, suggesting that motorcycles are becoming the preferred mode of transportation for many Dominicans.

The study revealed that while motorcycles are popular across the country, the most significant concentration is in provinces like Santo Domingo, where over 158,000 households own one.
