The National Institute of Transit and Land Transport (Intrant) has issued a ban on illegal motorcycle stops in bus lanes along major avenues such as José Núñez de Cáceres, Winston Churchill, and Charles de Gaulle in Greater Santo Domingo. The motorcyclists had been attracting passengers who otherwise would have been using the buses of transport companies that have been awarded exclusivity on the routes. The competition impacted the profitability of the bus companies.

Since he was named in August 2024, the new director of Intrant, Milton Morrison had carried out a crackdown on illegal motorcycle taxi stops. A press release from Intrant explains that within a month of assuming his position, Morrison oversaw the dismantling of 20 illegal motorcycle stops at intersections along major avenues, including Winston Churchill, 27 de Febrero, José Contreras...
