I was greeted this morning by two Codeeste men in uniforms and a really cool little truck in our little old condo development.... they were the ANTI FRAUD department.... I mean, work on it, guys, like this 40 unit middle class building is really really where all the illegal hookups are happening...........

Musta been a big fire - he's in Egypt :cheeky:.
So he was in Egypt on top of a pyramid not to see the fire,
........ but to see how a pyramid would look in Santo Domingo?

He took Executive Vice President of the Dominican State-run Electricity Companies (CDEEE) Radhames Segura along with him to get an estimate of heating and cooling costs!

Why would any investor come to DR? Is the electricity better in zona franca? If not, I guess more company would be moving out of DR (more unemployment). Our electricity is one of the highest and we still have so many blackout... im on vacation now.. looking at this news makes me not want to go back.. :(

5 years in a Zona Franca, and for about 4 1/2 of those years, our planta went on every day at 12:00 noon for the rest of the day. Finally, all of the companies in the free zone made a private deal with the Ozama river barge for our power. The gasoil bills were much higher than the AES bills every month.

I am now working "temporarily" in Mexico, where our power has gone out 3 times in almost three years, for about 20 minutes each time due to lightning strikes or a car accident. My bill in the DR was generally about RD$1500 -$2000 a month then, and they are now the equivalent of US$15 a month in Mexico. Here, EVERYONE pays or they get cut off immediately.

Sure glad I came over when I did - never did lose power while I was in Santo Domingo for 10 days earlier this month...

He probably already has one of those around his home(s).

;) To block out those annoying street lights at night. ;)

Oopsss, he found another way to do that, just turn off the electric!

"But having problems surviving the local blackouts"

This is about the 5th time this high tension fuse/connection has broken.
Great, quality workmanship.

22 hours and still counting

If you go to SIE.gov.do and dig into Resoluciones, you will even find a formula on how to calculate what the distribuidora de luz ows you ...

Anyone know where you can find out how long your circuit is off on an Edesur bill?! Rubio_higuey says edeeste prints it on the bill itself, but I can't seem to find it on the EdeSur one...

I'm going to try..... (emphasise try...) to get my bill back under 700kwh... as to my mind, without blackouts my bill would have been under 700kwh, and only was over this due to having to use the inverter so much...

Therefore should reduce my bill by some RD$3,000 pesos. But I don't know how long its off to do the calculation...and also if it allows for tariff change if it results in that.....

(for those who want it http://www.sie.gov.do/archivos/resoluciones/Resolucion%20Sie-56-2002.pdf)

We'll see, I'm not holding any breath.....
