Why?

My husband and I will be flying into Santiago airport and needing transportation to our hotel (Lifestyles Resort) in Puerto Plata. What are the different travel options, and how much do they cost? I've read a little about the shuttle companies, but with cab fair to and from the bus depots is it much cheaper than just taking a cab directly to the hotel? How much would cab fair be directly to the hotel? Does anyone have any connections with good cab drivers?

Thanks for your help! :)

Pay the price and get a cab direct to your hotel in PP. Can I ask a dumb question? Why in the world would you fly into Santiago when your hotel is is PP? I don't understand people who are trying save money on their flight only to realize that the airport is a long distance from the hotel. By the time you get done you havn't saved anything. In the DR DO NOT book flights into an airport that is over 2 hours away unless you plan on renting a vehicle. The cost of getting from point A to B will more than equal out the money you might have saved on booking into an airport no where near your hotel. Do your homework in advance. If you are staying in PP than fly into PP. Why are you complicating your vacation?

I recommend Johan, PM me for his contact. He is highly endorsed by several long time members here including his mentor JJ aka Bachata on dr1.

I would not use anybody else, Johan is a clone of JJ!
There is also a guy that advertises in dr1 classified that is on The A list as well, sorry.

I always wonder that LT..... any savings melt like snow in July......
Every driver knows to charge more for those midnite trips...the customer has little/no bargaining power at 3am

That's a joke, I am currently working hard to build my own Taxi business here in NC and doing the immigration process to bring my family over here...

If go back to DR will be to retire in a place near to beach!

ST Steve: Flights into STI are so much cheaper and more convenient than the flights to POP that the 90 dollars for a taxi to Livestyles or Playa Dorada is a pittance. Really.

I would suggest that these newcomers try the Concierge Driver--Pedro Anderson...good safe driver. Not dissing anyone, but this is a young guy trying to get ahead in life.

Tambo Johan is great but unfortunately he is in the process
to move to NY some time soon same i did four years ago
so we need a new driver in STI. From now I will go for the person
my mentor HillBilly Is recommending.

I have been long time far Santiago and still receiving Emails
of people looking for transportation, all those good recommendations
from you guys had been helping me out even for my back
grownd ck here in US.

Thanks for ever!

I get the feeling that the above post by Bachata is just one more piece of evidence of the power of the Internet. For years, he and his wife "Paloma" (Real name Roc?o) provided our area with outstanding service. Prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and above all safe service. Their fame was such that for these past four years, I and others have called upon him/her for recommendations on good, steady drivers and we have always received good answers.

As JJ and Roc?o go forward--they are hard working and ambitious--JJ is going to begin his service in North Carolina, lucky Carolinians!.

Good Luck...

Hey Buddy i would like to say you that you should book the transfer service by your air port you just book your flight and ask them for the transfer facility service to your home or any where you want to go after arrived they will booked your transfer service and this is very luxury and dropped you to your home with your all luggage...........

The return fair by taxi is $120 for Puero plata to santigo airport. Now you can guess what could be the cost for traveling from Santigo airport to Puero Plata. Otherwise you can travel through public transportation. The bus timings are: Hours of departure: 6:30 am-10:30 am-12:30 pm-4:30 pm-7:45 pm.

actually, with the new highway from santiago,it is only about 15-20 minutes further than flying into POP,with 2-4 people in the taxi, the jetblue airfare from JFK is so much cheaper to santiago it pays, plus the early flight lands at 9;15 am so you dont lose a day.the pop flight gets in at 2;30.it makes a whole lot more sense

I just did a search online for a trip in September.

Ft lauderdale to Puerto Plata. $792.10 on jet blue.
11.5 hours connects in NY. Cheapest on Priceline

Ft lauderdale to Santiago. $225.00. On spirit.
1 hr 45 min

Do the math.

Anyone have any other suggestions for flights out of ft louder dale to pop?
