Hello,

Are there any stores on the North coast or in Santiago that sell real ( non-junk) auto parts i.e air filters, sensors, oil filters, and other commonly purchased parts and accessories i.e diesel additives?

Some of the stuff that the mechanics put in here are just plain crap from other 2nd or third-hand sources that you have to swap out in a month's time. I have seen used air filters used and other plain junk that I would rather not go into my vehicle and cause premature damage.

Good to know thank you - have you ever priced them out by ordering from US and sending them here or is it not really worth it and just better to use the stores here?

Oil filters etc are low cost items...... not worth importing

If I have a shipment coming I sometimes throw in stuff like that...... but rarely, not worth the trouble

Went there for an oil change, filter was included for about 3,500 which is pretty cheap tbh considering the price of oil will not change much.. the margin will and it's less here obviously. The inspection was 500 to essentially tell you the work that needs to be done. Their prices are OK for Dominican - def not the best but not the worse. I think it would be ideal for anyone who doesn't speak Spanish and doesn't want to deal with surprises so in reality it would be the cheapest option for them. For changing oil you can trust them. do NOT try to save 300 - 500 pesos by going to Jose el mecanico unless you want some nice cheap oil or a oil drain plug that will fall off on the way home - time and place to save money but it's not there.

No sure where "there" is or how many quarts of oil you needed, but I got an oil change at David's Tire Shop two weeks ago for 3200 pesos. That included 4 quarts of Castrol, oil filter, air filter, and A/C interior air filter.

I ended up going to Loty Repuestos,just east of David's Tire Shop. He ordered rotors,pads and calipers for me. They arrived the next day. A friend of mine had an engine replaced there and highly recommended them. Torfilco in POP behind la sirena 2.0 L engine 5-6 liters not sure; was the first oil change and was in a rush; did come with an oil filter though as per standard changes do. i'd stick to Davids less could go wrong. I did not get a Cabin filter with mine.

cool thanks for sharing. happy the engine swap worked for him - though i'd have to have a pretty good relationship with a local to have an engine swap done too many opportunities for parts to be taken and sensors not hooked up. i'm not trying to knock on anyone but people here need to be informed when they read over this stuff. My truck has an engine swap done on it prior to my ownership. Engines speed and odom sensor not hooked up, which messed with the ABS alarm, oil sensor not hooked up, wrong depth and type of screws for the cooling fan, water used as coolant which corrodes everything. Engine harness was missing a bolt that was just not put in. Use real mechanics unless you want an expensive bill.. much like you should use real doctors here. Not saying the business you recommended does not have credibility cause I have never used them or know of anyone who has .

Before I moved to US 😉 my two favorite auto stores in Santiago City, Repuestos Freddy and Repuestos Santiago.
Both of them are or used to be one block away from La Sirena Bartolomé Colon.

Since I understand you own a European Car I would take a look next time in Santiago for Repuestos Tejada, they used to be located on AV. J Amando / Bartolomé Colon.

Resurrecting this thread but for the SDEast area. I can find 227 autoparts stores on google but have no clue if any are reliable or if they only sell junk yard quality. Any recommendations?

There is an auto parts store in Veron that got me a part that NO ONE in SD or Montilla or anywhere could get. And brand new. This is a Dominican operation that gets all their parts online and shipped to them directly. How they do it I know not, but the place is jammed with mechanics picking up parts. And no "Gringo pricing".

I was only there once with my mechanic to get the part. He ordered it with them. I will do my best for directions as I have no idea of the name. Going from Fruisa on the new hwy at the light at SJ Mall make a right and go to the end of the street which puts you in Veron. Make a left and it will be on your right but the best I can do is it is about 4 KM, Look for a place where you can park and a lot of cars in and out. ..............

Go to Rubios on the left side or hwy 5, in front of the military base, past the airport but before the desvío around the removed Cangrejo bridge.

They can get name brand parts in a day from Santiago {or Chinese parts of you dare)
Go early (~9 AM) and talk to Cheeky. Tell him you want original. His number is (809) 781-1757 (Spanish Only)
They sell oil, filters, belts almost all brands in stock. Transmission fluid etc and they can service your car also.

I just ordered an OEM downstream oxygen sensor off Amazon for $69. From Kia it's $131. Shipping is 1 pound.

What helps is if you have the OEM part number.

CB, Do you ever consult prices on Rockauto or Partsgeek?

I have ordered a ton of parts on Rockauto and they have consistently been cheaper than Amazon, plus they give you various options for every part. (cheap, OEM, premium, etc)
