New Bavaro international Airport in Macao.

Punta Cana Airport is great. I don’t know why this Bavaro airport was even considered.

It was a project conceived by Abraham Hazoury, one of the founders of Cap Cana. He has a rivalry with Frank Rainieri, who is one of the creators or Punta Cana Airport and a major revenue creator for Grupo Punta Cana. The Bavaro Airport was meant to put a hole in the finances of Punta Cana Airport as it would had been closer to most of the resorts, a major blow to the Rainieri's from the Hazoury's. But this was not meant to be.

By the way what happened to the poster Caonabo ?

He stop posting a few months after Covid arrived in the DR and was infecting people all over the place with no medicine/shots to combat it. Now, no one knows if he simply got off the forum or if he was another victim of Covid. He was not banned, so that's not it.

In the forums in general, not just DR1, there have been several people that during the heights of the Covid pandemic simply stop posting.

Yeah it’s also Hazoury behind Cap Cana rival to Punta Cana Resort. Seems Frank Ranieri is tough to beat.

During Covid and lockdown there was also a lot of people including posters who were bored. Who knows with Caonabo. Maybe wasn’t really who he pretended to be.

The proposal for an airport at Macau was very strange when La Romana airport was already able to take any overload from Punta Cana . I have been trying to think of other popular tourist destinations around the world that are some distance from an airport and I suppose the obvious two are Pattaya and Cha Am which are an hour from the Bangkok Airport and do not suffer from not having their own one. I am surprised that an appeal against the decision not to grant permission for a Bavaro Airport was ever made unless some damages for the change of mind were contemplated.

I loved Caonabo’s tale about riding out the lockdown in a villa in Casa de Campo with a Cuban, Venezuelan and a Colombian girl.
