New Bill Regulate Sign Language and Braille System

With this new law, I hope this will bring huge improvement to Deaf community in DR since because my wife is deaf and hope this new bill will help her to have access to communications throughout the DR (ie: doctors, hospitals, etc)

Also, for blind people, by offering braille will benefit them too.

Often times official announcement on TV from the government now has a box appearing in the lower right with someone doing in sign language whatever the government representative (or president) says on the podium. I think that started under Danilo.

This is great news. There is a man who lives on my husbands block who is deaf.

Most people on the block know basic signs to communicate with him, but my in laws have learned a good amount of American Sign to understand and communicate with him. He has said/signed to my father In law that he wished he could communicate and understand more. He has to take a translator with him to the bank and most other appointments.
