A bagel and lox or a corned beef on rye wouldn't hurt. Or for that matter, a Philly cheese steak sandwich or a boardwalk hot sausage sandwich. People think it is strange that when living in Sosua, these were the fantasies I had.
Those sound wonderful too.
Although I must admit I do not know what a "boardwalk hot sausage sandwich" is, nor how to make an authentic Philly Cheese Steak sandwich (I ate one in Philly 20 years ago).
The corned beef on rye / Lox and bagel I won't complain about "cooking" since that's pretty quick and easy; but where to get the lox??? I think I saw corned beef at National once and I do know who to cook that and love it with cabbage & potatoes ......... St. Patrick's Day is coming......oh, wait......now I am cooking again!!

The lox is easy to find. Most supermercados havte in the frozen section. It's the bagel that's hard to find. All we have in the north are Lenders frozen bagels.

You took the words right out of my mouth and yes it is a HUGE daydream.

Well, there's the "American Dinner" being prepared to open at the old Bozo Liquor Store across from Ocean Dream in Cabarete.

That it's called "American Dinner" instead of "American Diner" makes me a little suspicious as to what we'll find there.
But, one can daydream.

Sounds interesting, but I totally agree that the "dinner" vs "diner" thing is worrying.....
Anyone know more about the principles here? It either has to be an American or someone who gets it enough to let an American run it or approve the offerings......
And my offer stands.....I would offer recipes from my grandmother who was known far and wide as the best cook in Central Illinois back in the 1930's.....the real deal American home cooking kind of thing and "from scratch" cause that's all she had to work with.....sounds like the DR without the imported stuff full of who knows what.....perfect!

There is also supposed to be a new pizza place just west of El Concho Loco where the Dominican fast food place was. The Dominican fast food place has moved closer to the area where the Cabarete Casino is because of the new restaurant going in where he was.

"limited choice " - how about cooking by popular demand?

by all means guys, do tell what is it you would like to eat ( within the realm of middle eastern food - i can do a pretty mean all American menu, but that's kind of besides the point...) and i will try to oblige, either as a special,
or if proven a " hit " as a permanent item on the menu...
thanks to all of you who keep on returning, and your feedback, Yasmin Grill gets a little better every day.
