RD Vial, the transportation infrastructure trust, has launched an updated version of its mobile app for the Paso Rápido electronic road toll collection system. I have noticed RD always want something new but do they realize do they HAVE enough power/electric to get it work since it keeps having issues for years?

I arrived last week and drove my car through the paso rapido ....declined even though there is money on it

I'm thinking it's not the electric supply in this case, but maintenance practice. Everytime I go thru Las Americas Airport peaje 1 or 2 lanes are inoperable.
No wonder Amazon refused to build a warehouse in DR, I was at shareholder meeting 2 months ago, but instead they chosen Puerto Rico and the construction started 2 weeks ago.

Not totally accurate. Amazon not building a warehouse in the DR has very little to do with electricity or maintenance practice. Electricity (nor maintenance practice) would not be an issue as most companies (of that size, means. etc..) do not have the same issues with electricity, etc... as the everyday person or small business. As you stated you were at the "shareholders" meeting, so you know that their reasoning was more of a strategic and logistic one. Plus, the legalities, laws, etc....were more favorable for them being in Puerto Rico. A bit off topic, so back to the Paso Rapido app....

I go through 20-40 toll stations a year, but always with rental cars, so different license plates. Would it be possible and make sense to get and use one of the devices? Or doesn't it work with rental cars?

The Reset does work it just takes awhile to receive the email, once you get the mail & click RESET it takes you to a page where you then need to enroll again, reenter all your info, plus bank info for recharges.. I also lost 420 RD$ with the new app but an email to customer service responded that they are having issues and everything will be back in order as quickly as possible.

I don't believe that's an option, it's not a device but a sticker you put up on the windshield and it needs a license plate number registered alongside.

get the RFID and stick it to a old credit card etc. Just put the card above your dashboard and it will work just fine. You can invent a licence Plate Number and also the car details (color, make etc) Nobody cares.

I found that out this morning. Just plain stupid. Tried to do the reset and it said "User not recognized"

It doesn't for me. I don't believe you have to go get a new sticker, but you'll probably have to create a new user and re-enter your information.
I'm going to wait for a week or so and see what happens. I have a lot of vehicles and I don't look forward to collecting all of those sticker numbers and vehicle registration numbers.

I went through the toll booth Thursday afternoon after 4pm and went though pretty fast in the cash lanes. Not all that many cars in the Paso Rapido lanes either. Going to SD on Wednesday, there was a massive traffic jam leaving the city at Km9(Avenida Luperon). Looks like all that new construction there hasn't helped at all(?).

I only have the one car but your experience mirrors mine. i have about 3 or 4 trips left on the sticker I have so very soon I will try to re-enter my account. More programmer from the Larry Mondelo school of programming.
