I'm not sure you can even take that amount legally out of the country.

Not trying to be nosy but why would you cash that amount when on holidays?

..miss-overestimated the price of a sleeping with a sankey?

NO BANK is going to give you a fair rate for them in The USA.

I suggest you be patient and someone will take them off your hands in a "private" transaction off of this board.

I worked in currency exchange for over 3 years, there is no good place to exchange peso back into dollars... Plus what kind of idiot exchanged hundreds of dollars at a time ???

Than again... I really wouldn't be surprised with some ...

Hey Barbie...she covered that already....leave her alone...besides, that's just walkin' around money for a week if you are on vacation.

I do and I'm not an idiot. I spend money though and so does my wife. When you don't have the time to work there's lots of time for spending money and it goes fast in the D.R.

I have a unique idea, how about BIDDING for her pesos instead of having a PI$$ING contest about spending and cambio habits?

It sounds like theres a lot more than 50,000 pesos if she was buying land and it fell through. 50,000 pesos==just under $1600.00 . Last time I looked good luck finding land for $1600 US.

Anyhow to convert them back to dollars you will take a loss and should be expected. Now what you should do is break it up into more easily sold increments and sell them off privately to people within your area. This will be the fastest most reliable way to get most of your money back.

If not plan on using it for spending money on future DR trips.

OK...I''m with Tambo on this one...the bidding is now open !

...I'll be the escrow officer, and the buyer and the seller can both send their money to me when it's over.

I like the idea of opening a peso account that someone mentioned earlier, that would give you spending money everytime you go to the DR.

Just contact the American Express Travel office in your area and they will buy the pesos from you, the rates will not be good, but at least its something.
