Good afternoon Gentlemen and Ladies

A little about myself, a Scandinavian who discovered Cabarete in 1998.
Been here at least once a year since.
I have become an old grumbler at 67 years old that I'm sure many here will recognize.

Bought property in Cabarete six years ago, and now live here permanently with a girlfriend and seven-year-old daughter.

Retired early and think the upside of living here far outweighs the negative experiences.

Looking forward to being able to post questions and get relevant, wise answers from other experienced people who share.

I shouldn't ignore the fact that I can also contribute in some fields, if some questions arise that I think I know the answer to.

Or maybe just discuss with other grumpy old people just for fun.

I have to say I've known a few older gentlemen with a girlfriend with a young daughter, and all of them appeared to be very happy!

this is a great group they will tell you how it is and voice their opinions it's up to you to listen to them much experience here... you may not like our opinions but it's from our experiences living here

It sounds like I have found a valuable community of expats! Having a group that shares honest insights and experiences can be incredibly beneficial, especially when navigating life in a new country like the Dominican Republic. Your perspectives can help me understand the local culture, adapt to challenges, and make the most of my time here. I consider it's important to keep an open mind and listen to different viewpoints, even if they don't always align with my own.

Well put. I think of this kind of like parenting: It's not about complementing your kid non-stop. Being told off, being angry and telling things the kids don't want to hear is part of it. It's because you care. Our kids hate their mother when they are told to drink their tee if they are sick. Our eldest cannot stand tee. It's for their well-being.
