I know that the start of the season is a few months away.........But does anyone in Sosua get the NFL package ?
If so, is it with Sky TV or another company in Sosua ?

I am moving to Sosua in May and want to get the right service installed.

THANKS !!

Sky has had it in the past, I assume they will still have it next season.

You can get it with SKY sat tv. They also have the NFL channel included in the normal programming so you get the Thurs night game and also the Sunday night game is available and usually 2 games Sunday afternoon. These are usually in Spanish.

Yes, SKY has it. It costs a fortune. Instead, you can come to Cabarete to O'Shay's and buy a beer and watch all the games "In English" and cheer for your home team with other people from your same state or part of the country.

Why not let someone else foot the NFL package.

Interesting. How does Rumba offer more games then O'Shays?

In fact, show me one bar on the north coast that has more games then O'Shay's?

By the way,

The best place to watch football games in a sports bar on this island are the "5 Star" sports bar in Santo Domingo and Santiago (Jimmy O'Shay runs them), and the Hard Rock Casino in Punta Cana.

You can also get the NFL Game Pass to watch any game on your computer online, only available outside the US/Mexico/Bahamas/Canada, for $80 to $150 per season, depending on whether you sign up just for one team or all games.

This is really not the same as the TV. It is cached and usually one or two plays behind the live game. Not recommended.

You know, the more i think about this, the more i doubt that this is accurate information. First, in order to show all the NFL games on Sunday afternoon (1pm = 5 different games), you have to have the equivalent amount of five "separate" satellite boxes--each one with the NFL Ticket on it ($199 US Dollars), and each one corresponding to a different TV.

This would mean that during the Sunday's 1pm NFL games, Rumba would need 5 satellite receivers each paying at least $199 US dollars each, and much more money if they are paying the "Business" plan for bars and restaurants...which counts your seats in your establishment and then gives you the price!!

In other words, Rumba would need to be forking over a minimum of $1000 US dollars for 5 satellite receivers (each corresponding to a different flat screen TV so that you can see every game) and then in order to get it for that price ($1000 US) they would have to have avoided paying a "Business" restaurant/bar price. At O'shays in Cabarete, we have all 5 receivers with the NFL Ticket, but we actually have 8 Satellite receivers all together with other sports packages on them.

People do not realize how expensive it is to have all these satellites with all of these different sports packages on them. In fact, people don't have a clue! It costs thousands and thousands of dollars a year. Therefore, if Rumba has found some way to show all the sports packages like O'Shay's in Cabarete does while simultaneously selling cheap drinks, good for them. Because once you add up the NFL Ticket, MLB package, NBA package, and all of the PPV fights and all the UFC fights...you're talking about a whole lot of money...and you need to sell a lot of beers to even break even!

I had 8 satellite boxes in my bar/restaurant for NFL games. They offer different rates for multiple boxes in a commercial establishment...unless they have changed things...

That's alot of money for commercial establishments . I've had Directv here in nYc for my residence for the last 15 years with the NFL Sunday Ticket and paid between $100-$150 a season after I cry poverty to them. They never catch on , lol

NFL fans,

This NY Giant fan can vouch for Frank and O'Shay's. If there is a better place on the North Coast to watch multiple NFL games, I have yet to find it. I went there last season wearing my team jersey and was met by almost a dozen Redskins fans in their colors! Thankfully, our respective clubs were not playing against each other, so no serious trash talking occurred.

I live in Sosua and I vote for O'Shays. It's only a short drive or taxi ride to Cabarete. They have a great atmosphere, great food and a lot of TVs. Rumba has the big screen, but the total selection is usually limited to two games. Rather than getting an expensive package at your house you can go to O'Shays, see whatever game you want, and enjoy some good food and drinks and have an afternoon on the beach. And they have the best Super Bowl party.

What is good about O'Shays is that you can get a table right in front of a TV and get the game you want to watch on it.
