President Luis Abinader was in Nigua, in southcentral San Cristóbal province for groundbreaking for a new industrial free zone park – the Global Industrial & Logistic Park. The park seeks to attract medical, pharmaceutical and electronic clients for its manufacturing lines.
Industries located there are estimated to employ around 10,000 people, most living in Haina, Nigua, San Cristóbal and Greater Santo Domingo.
The promoters are investing US$28 million to build 80,000 square meters of industrial buildings. The park is expected to reach its full manufacturing capacity in eight years.
Luis Lopez, president of Global Industrial & Logistic Park, highlighted the promising prospects of four companies that have already shown their interest in establishing themselves in the free zone park.
