When I am in Santo Domingo I just move around Bella Vista. So it’s village like. Especially I go to the mall a lot. Can’t imagine how they are going to be checking people entering the mall and shops and coffee shops. There will be long queues

I just looked on mine. I have only one shot. It has my Cedula nr on it. I think people who have a card and no cedula might have a problem here. The police guys will not understand that. There is also a section where it says Vacunador and it wasn’t signed there. I looked at another with two Sinovacs and she had someone signing there for 1 and 2. I will bring mine to the Vaccination place at Downtown Center next week and ask if I can start a new one. Mine is from end May. In Europe they are talking about every 6 months anyway.

I think the DR has well intentions.
I also think this will fail and things will
get back to normal by Christmas time.

I hope I am not misunderstood but in Denmark they gave up implementing the Corona passport App. At least I think that’s partly what happened as everything is open now and no requirements. I can’t see the DR implementing something like this. Then we will really know they are bullshitting. I am all for vaccination by the way.

I 100% support the vaccine mandate. But, like you, my fear is that it will be spottily implemented. It's one thing to make a rule, relatively easy, but another to implement and enforce it.

Today, just to check, I went to the front desk of La Sirena. I was curious to know if management was aware of the details of the new policy. The employee I spoke to was aware of the details and said that employees would be at the entrances checking customers. We shall see.

The implementation problems are tremendous, no doubt about it. I don't know what it means to not worry about those problems or be carefree about them because there WILL be problems. We can't read people's minds, only speculate. Maybe they were thinking, "Let's wait until the 18th and see what happens."

When I will be back in Las Terrenas I am in a type gated community and will see hardly anything from the practical problems from the implementation of this. Life is mostly outside and I doubt i will have to show a card at my usual hangouts. I will have to see what they say at the supermarket and I will pick the outside ATM. In Santo Domingo I stay with friends in Bella Vista. It’s also kind of a bubble but it would be a bit of a hassle and make it even more claustrophobic. But imagine how this affects life of people commuting and living in a barrio of Santo Domingo. I am thinking most shops and colmados just won’t care so they don’t make life impossible for each other.

I got the vaccine for 2 reasons, to make travel easier and to protect my elderly mother (84). Travel is no easier and my mother is being told she needs a "booster shot". But I have my card, not been asked for it on my last 2 trips to DR but I have it. So I am waiting to see if or when I am asked for it.
