I spent the last 5 days in Dajabon at the Codei Villas. I will do a separate thread on that, but we had a great time.

However, coming back was anything but fun. As some of you might know, I'm an illegal alien, about 4.5 years now. Well it caught up with me today. I was not allowed to board the Caribe Tours bus as now busses exiting Dajabon have migracion agents checking everyone boarding. The lady checked me and noticed a lack of a recent stamp. Gran problema. No bribe accepted either.

So I get put on the back of a migracion moto and taken to HQ. The man in the booth thought I was coming in from Haiti. Then the next guy thought I was trying to leave the DR to go to Haiti and cautioned me against it. The moto guy told them no but they didn't understand. Finally they got a boss. He was confused and said I should go back to Santo Domingo.

By this time of course the bus was long gone so we went to the association bus station. We went thru the same shit again with a different migracion agent. However she accepted 1000 pesos but by that time that bus was gone, so I went on a local "express" guagua that stops every 11.8 meters. It took a while but I actually got door to door service from this guagua guy to Caribe Tours in Santiago. He was very nice, but another 1000 pesos. Also, 1000 pesos to the moto migracion guy.

So I got up at 530 this morning in Dajabon and made it back to Boca Chica at 545 pm. Long day. I also did not get my 650 pesos back from Caribe Tours in Dajabon.

So before there is a next time, i have to get legal and stay legal. Lesson learned.

Could have gone out of DR to Haiti, pay the 4.5 years exit fee, then back into DR again, be legal again for 30 days...!

But I think your method with paying all the bribes and cost was still a lot cheaper... 😉, but that exit fee is always there and increases...!

It's easy to be wise after the event, but perhaps you could have guessed that there might be problems coming from a border town like Dajabon on public transport.
I spoz you could think that but this was my third or fourth time in Dajabon. No issues up to this last trip. Of course, the last visit was around 2 years ago before all the canal BS.

Do what a friend of mine does for more than 7 years now . Start the Process of legalization online and submit only your passport or a picture.
Than take a screenshot of the website with your "application in process" print it out and have it on you 24/7 and you want have any more problems. Every few month do it all over again using a different email.

I'd like to see what their canal looks like right now with all of the flooding.

No offense to Manuel01 but I'd rather play games with the PN than Immigration.

If one drops some coin on an attorney, they will do the leg work. No fuss no muss. FYI I am not talking about a 500-dollar attorney.

Yes..the past couple of weeks with various posts and advice on passports and social security bogles my mind. IMO I don't fool with those two subjects. The most important doc I own is my passport. I will do all that is necessary to protect it. I guess some don't feel like that since one poster suggested sending your pp to a friend in the US to renew it. Insane! And crazy ideas for SSA requirements that are fraudulent to say the least. To put either of those in jeopardy doesn't make sense.

Nicely said. While I certainly live far from the foot of the cross, I do not play with Uncle Sam. (IRS, SSA, Homeland security), their computers will catch those little so-called errors.

If Caribe Tours check for valid visa on boarding of all passengers everywhere they go bankrupt in no time.... 😉

Whenever I have taken Caribe Tours or Metro, more than 90% of the people on the bus were Dominicans. A simple show of a cedula would not be a major issue if it came to that for all locations.
