Cops seize cocaine cache during USVI traffic stop
The Associated Press

Monday, Jan. 10, 2011 | 4:03 p.m.

Federal authorities say they have seized 228 kilograms (502 pounds) of cocaine during a traffic stop in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

U.S. officials say St. Croix police officers stopped a Dominican national Sunday while he drove in the town of Christiansted. Officers allege a search of the car turned up seven large bags in the back seat and trunk holding cocaine.

Authorities say the drugs had an approximate street value of more than $6 million.

A statement Monday from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency identifies the suspect as Miguel Pascual, a Dominican who lives on the nearby U.S. island of Puerto Rico. It was not immediately clear if Pascual has a lawyer.

What this idiot has to do with the Dominican image. He is just another low life drug dealer. Would it make any difference, if he would have been from the US.

Being from the USVI I concur with what Criss Colon said as far as the perception that most of the locals have. It only takes a few to give people the wrong impression.

one person's comment who is angry at his lot in life doesn't mean ev1 shares the same...

i myself see a poor people who smile in the face or thier hardships and enjoy whatever life has given them...

i'm also sure many tourists couldn't handle the troubles these people deal with and those that did...wouldn't be able to smile about...

this is just another opinion on the dr1 :)
but it's mine and i like it :)

Re

Most people's minds are open enough to relaize that the acts of the few don't exemplify the acts of the rest. If some people's minds are closed enough to presume that the Dominican Republic is full of similar people, then these same people would have some kind of warped opinion about the Dominicans-whatever was in the news. Who cares about the opinions of those who steriotype?

The problem with us human beings is that we allow the vocal minority to influence our perception of others. Individuals should be judged on their own merits, not lumped in as a group. Wonderful world, beautiful people.

Funny, I guess if we are going to arrive at far-out conclusions of whole communities on the basis/actions of what a few individuals do while in a foreign country. Then don?t be surpprised by the conclusions Dominicans have of people like illegal Haitians in the DR, which to me, happen to be no more than plastic bags full of crap throwing, cattle stealing, a strain on the weak public health system for bringing their HIV infested babies and abandoning them in the public hospitals, theives, parasites, the list is way too long to continue.

Nevertheless, by your conclusion I should also see every Italian as a mob member, or that every Irish is a drunk, better yet I should now believe that every AA in the States is a dead beat dad, for not taking care on their kids. You see we could all reach some ridiculous conclusions if we start looking for them. BTW if all Dominican are nothing more than drug dealers, woman abusers, base ball players, singers/dancers, and ptrostitutes, I REALLY CAN?T SEE ANY REASON WHY YOU CHOOSE TO LIVE HERE, GO SOME PLACE ELSE. :tired:

Only the part about the Americans is true. Ever notice that there's guys selling drugs just past the customs exit at every cruise ship port-of-call in the Caribbean waiting for the 'Jankees' to come down the ramp?

If Americans would stop using illegal drugs...just stop using them, most of the crime in the region (the drug related part) would simply cease once the supply lines stopped functioning.

USVI is suffering terribly from this illegal trade, as is the D.R. and other Countries in the region and the US holds the key to the solution.

Every where in the world you will find bad and good people so why the DR should be the exemption, most emigrants comes from the non educated class and when in other countries lives in ghettos areas and quickly assimilate the customs of the worse people in the host country.
I barely saw Dominicanyorks bringing the good customs from the US. look at the guys dressing baggy pant showing the underwear o con un maldito panuelo en la cabeza thanks G*** I don't see those custom in the city where I live.

Make note of the only steriotype that CC uses twice in his little rant, and you will know why he lives in the DR.

Again, this is a YOUNG person's style.

To each their own, I guess.

Now, if you see this style on a mature person, then there is a problem.

Plus, you could argue that tight ass pants with female shaped eyebrows too is no better :cheeky:

Nothing wrong with tight ass pants on females of course. On men is a different story, especially is the top is tight too :)

panuelo en la cabeza en 2010 ?? :)
