Yes, of course, young girls twerking in a barbershop might get international exposure. It is right up there with chicas working at car washes offering extras. As indicated earlier, why not tackle complex problems like water and power. Are successful working businesspeople here even slightly interested in this sleazy barber shop? I think not.
I agree with you, IF she is actually the Best in her Field .. which I dont doubt , from the supportive comments just here alone , then why waste her Talent on this krap ?
I have heard nothing new about some Underage trafficking going on there.. this is just the type of Dirt which gets Slung to make the story stick , and get traction.

Go after the REAL Problems and Corruption. if she is as Gutsy and highly talented at her Job .

I just dont get why she would waste her time ... I was actually waiting to see if there was some Human trafficking element to this ..
but then I thought , we can wait a long time and why would they so blatantly be flaunting such an Operation in a Barber shop ??
this story has NO teeth whatsoever ... what are we missing .. Twerking Bimbos are the biggest problem in the DR ?

Nice try! His attire, hair style and earring speaks for itself. Thank God she did not interview one of the scantily clad spandex wearing twerk artists.
The men wearing earrings has actually been in the DR since the second Haitian invasion. Many of the Haitian soldiers were wearing earrings, a habit that was prohibited during slavery amd picked it up after liberating themselves. Dominicans would slowly emulate them.

Considering for how long it has been in the country, despite men with earrings were looked down upon more in the past than now, seeing Dominican men wearing earrings isn’t much of an issue, IMO.

And no, I don’t wear earrings and never will, but it’s a tradition that goes back a long time. I think looking too hard into the meaning of that is simply that. The original purpose was simply some people thought they made men look better/more interesting, nothing more.

OK "dude" if you say so. Unfortunately, her work speaks for itself. Why is it Sir (notice I did not call you dude) that a reference was made early on about her physical appearance. Does that make her a better journalist?
You have my apologies for the "dude" reference, sir.

I agree. I was surprised by this report as it's out of character for her. That I admit.

I think you may find this is what's called a "filler piece". Nuria is committed to putting out a report at a certain time every week for her shows. But say she is reporting on something and is intending to put it on the show next week, and then suddenly there is a legal embargo placed on her, or for some other reason she can't go live. She then has these reports ready to roll to fill in the gaps. Not time-sensitive, doesn't involve a big hitter. Newspapers do this all the time, they have to pull a big story for one reason or another and so they fill in the gap with something they have had around waiting for such a moment.

Nuria knows more than anyone that a piece about girls in a barber shop won't attract as much interest as, say, a minister filmed doing something completely illegal.

That makes total sense. I didn't think about it. Thanks Maria.

The reference to her physical appearance has nothing to do with her ability. The comment made about her physical appearance was an after thought by the poster. "Unfortunately, her work speaks for itself?" Big do you live in the DR? Very surprised at your negativity. So, you base all Nuria's work on this story?

I would like to add that I - an older women myself - made the reference to her appearance. I think she looks amazing and want to know what she is doing to pull off zero wrinkles with such a stressful job. There is nothing wrong with a woman complimenting another woman on looking amazing for her age.

When all is said and done, her report now has over 600K views. She must be doing something right.

And another interesting point: Look at all of the suggestions she received in the comments for other issues to be investigated.

It just goes to show you that what one person may not agree with, there are hundreds of others that do. And MariaRubia I agree, she looks amazing for her age.

I can't help but think your high praise of her work is partly because she is attractive older woman blessed with good genetics. She no doubt would be considered an angry witch if she was investigating this particular case involving cute young girls if she were a 300-pound hog with bad skin.

None of the expert women interviewed in the video are attractive women. Older yes, attractive no.

So, you are saying that people praise her because of her looks? I do not think anyone is "praising" her work due to her appearance. Honestly, this is the first time I have even heard anyone mention her looks/appearance. Actually, what you are saying is very demeaning in general, saying someone's work will be based on appearance. But unfortunately, they are many more like you that think the same way.

There are two Professions that are highly overrated and receive way to much credit ahead;
1.) Medics
2.) Journalists
and all that because of a long list of Movies and Telenovelas about saving the unsafeable and fighting for justice while risking their own Life etc.
All of this is one BIG BS
There is not one single occupation that is hosting more crooks and/or con artists than the two above.
The Damage that both of them do to our society is not even messurable.
DO NOT BELIEVE THEM ANYTHING WITHOUT CHECKING TWICE OR THREE TIMES !!!

FF1 you are always coming very close to having a vacation... Anyone including a moderator can actively participate in any thread. Also, I like Nuria, and I find others' opinions interesting. If that is a problem for you then please ignore the thread.

I think the demeaning part is giving her credit for doing good journalism work based on her looking "amazing". If a man were to do this he would be labeled a sexist and a chauvinist

I do see what you are saying, but I still do not see where anyone is giving her credit based on her appearance. Yes, the story she did may not be the " end all" type of story but to some it was important enough to view.

This is interesting. If true clearly her investigative reports have some weight.
I have zero doubt in my mind.

Try watching her investigative report and interview with Diandino Peña, the engineer in charge of the first Metro and now owner of Silver Sun Gallery. It's brutal.
