I wonder what this was selling for 10 and 20 years ago:

US$5.8MM for 6.5 acres in Cabarete:

Prime beachfront property

Because a million per acre would be CRAZY..

$221 / sq m is not that far fetched for ocean front Cabarete property, stick to cooking Peter.

There is a complex in Uvero Alto (1/2 hour from PC airport) with 1750 sg ft condos on beach starting at $325,000 USD. There is a really nice front line resale there with high end furniture & finishing for 350. In Bavaro beach front starts at around 300 and up

FISH, you still need to get in & out of thar "Stilt House"!
My father always said, "Better to have a friend with a beach house, than to have one yourself"!
He said the same thing about a "Pool"!

living close to ocean on north shore equals heat, mosquitoes, (dengue), roaches, flies, Buffo Toads and higher humidity not to mention the salt air effects on everything metal including your air conditioning. It is a coastal flood plain. I agree with Peterinbrat about living up the hill with the ocean view. Better prices, better breezes less bugs and pests. Living oceanside is not all that it is cracked up to be.
True.

I lived on Boca Ciega Bay in St. Pete FL for many years, and everything with metal corrodes quickly. Everything. A/c, fridges, pool pumps, cars, window hardware, locks, etc. Everything.

Some program on HGTV now about home buyers in Cabarete. About $100/sq ft for a condo on the beach fully furnished. 2500 sqft condos. That, I can see for a retirement place, esp with security.

I want to thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I think I can workout a price for a tract of oceanfront property I will be putting on the market now that it has finally received its title clearance from the courts. As we all are aware this can be quite a process, in this case over 10 years. It did not help that the father of the ageing eight children I am selling the property for went off into the mountains and had four more children with another women. Then all the in fighting with the current owners and their children...ah, but isnt life a trip here in the Republica Dominicana.

Best to you all for Semana Santa...here in Cabral we are having our 68th annual Carnival...town and my house full of folks and the party goes on night and day.

take care,

kFrancisco de Cabral

Cobraboy, if you are still out there I am holding a copy of my hand drawn map of the Barharuco mountains for you.
