Frank, that Hotel Paz is now the Hotel Hispaniola. I never knew it had another name back in the day!

I love looking at all these old fotos. Everything was clean and orderly. Cuando eramos. It really boggles my mind as to why can't the streets and cities be the same today?

I thought it was a nice picture of the Angelita... Trujillo's yacht, but now I'm not sure..

It was the "Sea Cloud" before he purchased it, and pics of it show four masts instead of two.

JD, it is known as the Sea Cloud now and it is used for cruises. I believe that boat is Yate Ramfis. The Angelita was bigger. If you Google Sea Cloud, you can get the history of the boat.

Observation from the Frontier: Old RD Music ?

Slightly on topic: Is there anyone out there in " Forum Land " who has knowledge about the early history of music in the Republica Dominicana ? Were there any specific instruments that originated here ? And lastly, are there any clubs or locations in the country ( SD etc. ) that play such music ???

I am not that musically inclined, my mother who was said I was " tone death " when she tried to teach me various musical instruments ? However, I do have friends who visit me that are into music, especially early Latin American music and have traveled to Peru, etc. recording such music.

take care you all and the best for the New Year from Cabral.
