I drive by there almost every day, many times around 4:30pm-5:00pm when the Chinese restaurant would be packed. About once a week I'm going by around 10pm when the Chinese restaurant was closing, but there were still many customers inside finishing their meals. There's almost no one ever inside the new restaurant.

I don't think he knows how to promote a restaurant(?). He never has one of those chalkboards outside advertising a happy hour nor any specials of the day. He should also have a menu outside IMO like all restaurants on Cabarete Beach have so people can see what he has to offer and what the prices are.
I see a lot of his posts on the everything gringos demand their rights website. An imported ribeye steak (16oz) with potato and a side Ceasars salad for 1500. The cost is accurate as I have bought 16oz portioned ribeye at Rebelde Gourmet for cooking at home. About 1000 pesos /pound. I saw a febu argument with a customer of his in the comments section - not a good look. I think the tight wad crowd here, as Tarheel puts it, just prefers a cheaper bfast like Dicks bakery. And certainly few are willing to shell out 1500 for a dinner plate. His menu looks decent though. I don't eat out hardly except for pizza perhaps because it's my experience that I cook better than anyplace I've encountered on the NC. I certainly wouldn't pay 700 pesos for a chicken sandwich unless it was a business meeting or the like. Time will tell. Restaurants build a following here moreso because of the relationship with the owners. It has to be as I can't imagine why there is so much hype over many of these places.

Dream on. Do they health-check every product that comes into the U.S.? Throw away everything that has chinese parts in it and you will end up with an empty house. Whether we like it or not.

Exactly,
No country can do without Chinese imports,
Not US, EU, DR, CAN.

It is impossible to operate without Chinese imports, just as exports to China are an important economic factor.

However countries now have realized that they have to achieve some autonomy in manufacturing important components for industry, defence,
Medicines in their own countries.

All Nations need economic and military cooperation to exist.
One often is forced to do business with different ideologies and competing countries.

Not that I like the system,
But one has to travel and see China to understand their incredible progress.
It's not just Chinese stealing tech from the West.

They have far advanced on their own research and infrastructure, which could be the envy of many western countries.
Obviously the government decides which industries are furthered and pays billions into subsidies and engages int long range plans.
Something Democratic governments can not do.

The Communist government haș obvious advantages and obvious shortfalls because of their system.
The DR still should take advantage of Chinese investments, where it is to the benefit of the DR.
The gob.do does have some capable people.

Too many people greatly underestimate the Chinese. Very soon they will have the largest economy in the world. While the US tries to rule the world with it's military power, the Chinese will rule the world with their economic power.
The uninformed underestimate the Chinese. They own a majority stake in US debt. The lender comes a knockin'

I like McDonalds. A big mac menu.
A big mac, fries and a Coca Cola. McDonalds is located all over the country although still not in Las Terrenas. They should have one on the new road to there. I am just providing valuable dr info.

Im confused at this comment. The DR has been taking Chinese money for years. Power infrastructure being one major area.
And they may take more in the future.
Hopefully done in the right way to protect DR interests.
You may have read that some are afraid the DR will be taken over by China, I'm not one of them.

Also US, CAN, EU is free to invest and offer know-how.

They don't health check a lot of products adequately in the US. Think of the class action suit against Monsanto over Roundup. Or. how about the mRNA vaccines? We were the guinea pigs for those.

Some seem to be very impressed by Russia.
Only those who lack the historical and current situational knowledge.

Those who have not been in Russia.
Any big money made there and the Oligarchs are created with government approval and by corruption.
Russia the largest country in the world, is even worse than China.

Not any knowledgeable person is impressed by dictatorships, murder and torture, or the silencing of any opposition by brutal imprisonment followed by death..

Being Dane, you should know better and not post nonsense!

Fortunately the Russian investments and conduct are known in the DR.

Or, was this meant to be a hidden reference to an other would be dictator and his idiotic positions.??

I actually apologize for being off topic. I meant some up north seem to be impressed by Russia or a certain Russian. I am not. To go more DR related Russia doesn’t seem to be of much importance here. Not like China at all.

That pretty much describes the DR in that regard. Abinader is trying to change that.
