Las Terrenas
"Mitur’s Departments of Planning, Projects, and Exemptions, the findings revealed unapproved construction of 28 additional rooms, a Kids Club, a Spa and Gym building, and other unauthorized structures. The project also violated height restrictions, exceeding the 7-meter limit for the clubhouse by 3 meters and failing to comply with local setback regulations."

We always wondered how these huge buildings were built so close to some of the beach homes surrounding the resort...

Marriott will not be paying anything if this is a case of simply selling the usage of its name. In that case, the Dominican “franchiser” will have to find the funds to cover the fines.

It would be interesting if everything is resolved with only a fine rather than a fine + order to demolish the unapproved constructions.

"Demolish"is a powerful word that generally doesn't work against a law firm that I suppose would be working for a chain like Marriott.

I have seen in this country where it took years to demolish a shack on the beach. I
would think Marriott has better connections than that.

The resorts do it because they know they can get away with it. It's all a game, submit plans, make changes, disregard regulations, construct, get caught when 80% complete, wine and dine, favors exchanged, wrists slapped, no changes, finish construction, and resorts win the games.

One of the very few cases in which the government stopped a construction and demolished what has been started was a few years back in the Parque Nacional del Este when a Spanish concern began constructing a resort on park land. Because it was government land it was stopped entirely, construction demolished, and site cleaned up. When the people's land is concerned the wheels move fast.

Then how on earth did the government allow La Cieanaga in Cabarete to be built on filled in El Choco Public Park protected wetlands?
I susepect no action will ever be taken about that.

Unless Marriott owns the entire thing, there is no reason for Marriott to do anything with a law firm. It would be the Dominican owner and developer that will do that.

Marriott may be a co-owner, but it's more likely they’re selling the rights. This is a massive project situated in a sensitive area of Las Ballenas Beach. The lack of infrastructure is staggering, and the region is plagued by frequent blackouts. Luz y Fuerza is utterly unreliable. What a joke.

You might see a reason if you considered it's their name and damage to reputation and trustworthiness. In addition Don't you think a contract with selling their name, if that's the case, and you don't know that to be true, wouldn't include a liability clause that would force them to litigate?

How many times was Trump attacked when he sold the rights to a foreign entity and that entity caused a problem? Who did the public attack?

In the USA anyone can sue anyone. The DR is not so sue happy. You would actually have to have a reason to sue someone in the DR.
I have no idea who got sued in the DR when projects Trump sold his name to in the Punta Cana region failed. Was it Trump or the people that bought his name. or just nobody?

Those trying to build a franchised Marriott higher end boutique hotel in La Boca, Cabarete, finally lost out to Medio Ambiente after thinking they paid off enough people and starting construction.

Your first sentence is BS and is showing a lack of knowledge of the judicial system. Since it pertains to the USA I will drop it..
Your last paragraph is lacking proof of your opinion and is worthless.
