OK I have seen Davidz eating and drinking at many places very frequently in the Sosua- Cabarete area, so i have to say he is a very reliable source of information.

But please tell me why all these once a year visitors seem to always know so much more then the people like davidz who live in the DR:ermm:

Which ever way you look at it, this thread is coming up to 4000 views. How many of those are tourists? If every view was a diner that's been put off, that's gotta hurt business!

Let's hope the REAL owner is made aware of this and fixes it quick. Papi's is more popular with locals rather than tourists. I mean who wants to sit in a plastic chair at a plastic table with a plastic table cloth and order from a menu with about six different dishes?

We recently went to La Bolognia in Sosua. Their version of shrimps in a cream and garlic sauce is to die for! Okay, so it's not on a beach, but the service is great and you have a choice of semi outdoors dining or in their air conditioned section and the food is superb.

It's a simple solution. Get back in the game or people will vote with their feet.

Back to the topic of discussion...
It is this line above that makes me think that the owners are not very 'net-savvy'. It seems almost as if they think that because an internet forum is pretty anonymous, that means it is of little importance and thus a complete disregard for the effects of their following comments.

I think they may well regret this one big time

I highly doubt the owner of Papi's wrote that reply. One thing that comes automatically to an owner/manager is to apologize and schmooze. Im sorry let me get you another drink, was that portion small I will treat you desert. Coffee is on the house etc etc.
Running /serving in a rest is the best way on earth to learn humility. If that really was the owner of Papi's that place is up for sale. Or it will be soon.

With Rocky's on your right, walk to the corner where the Bon icecream is located. Take a right at the corner, and walk about 3oo yards. You will see it on your left. It is past the Marina hotel.

Great to eat there. Lousy for take-out.

We went to Papi's on Saturday night at about 9.30 - 10.00. "Sorry", said the guy I believe is the owner, "we are just out of Langoustine". OK, so we continued to look at the menu until the waitress said "No more langoustine, lobster or any fish". A bit surprising for a seafood restaurant!

I have been fact checking one of the biggest selling guide books to the DR, checking the restaurants, hotels and activities to make sure everything was current and up to date.

On the basis of this thread I took Papi's out.

Aren't you supposed to check them out yourself? Maybe everybody is putting something completely different 'on your plate' in this thread :)

Not sure it is possible to visit every bar, hotel, restaurant, nightclub, tourist attraction in the whole country in 3 weeks. Anyway with 119 posts on the subject seems like a pretty good research sample to me.
