The executive director of the National Institute of Transport and Transit (Intrant), Hugo Beras announced that the pilot parking program implemented on 13 streets in the Seralles and Piantini area of the Polígono Central of the National District (Santo Domingo) has been successful. Beras says 212 drivers and vehicles were in violation. Of these, 194 vehicle owners paid fines to retrieve their vehicles after these were towed.
The parking program now is being extended to all streets in the Naco neighborhood also in the Polígono Central residential and commercial district.
The program seeks to eliminate double parking on Polígono Central streets.
Beras said the Naco streets already have most of the signage that is needed for the Parqueate Bien program.
