I've used Paypal for many many years. I use their debit card. Right now waiting for my debit card from my USA bank to get here. It's taking forever. Usually when this happens I transfer money from bank to paypal so I can withdraw the cash to pay my monthly bills. No problem.

Latley Paypal askes me for my phone number to send me a text or wghatsap to verify. I put the number in and paypal will not accept the number. I used to just opt for email verification but now it does not give me that option.

I called Paypal a few weeks ago and they fixed the problem but it is happening again. Anyone else have this happen and if so what do you do?

Oh, I did try Remitly but I didnt know my bank cancled my card since the first was lost in the mail...again. They canceled my account and now I can't use Remitly. But, really I need to figure out the Paypal issue.

Magic Jack will work if you have it. Or even if someone else has it and you get the code........I use it on my Pay Pal..............Also are you putting the 1 in front of the area code? You need to........

I tried Magicjack and says that it cannot send text. And yes, it has the 1 in front. Just keeps saying the number is invalid.

I have used google voice for dual factor authorization for many years for various bank accounts.
I am not sure PayPal will work with it. Google Voice normally has to be set up in the USA to work .

Are they rejecting your DR cell phone number?

Yes. I guess that's what it is. Keeps saying number is not valid, enter a valid number. I spent way over an hour with paypal 2 weeks ago and they fixed the issue now it's happening again. I just want an email validation, not a phone validation. I never used phone validation but something changed.

I don't use PayPal, so am only guessing...maybe you can set up Two Factor Authorization from PayPal from your computer, avoiding the need then for an e-mail or call. I use the 2FA Authenticator app on my phone for that, there are others you can choose from too

Then you have to use the android AP. Can't use it on my computer. I pretty much don't use my phone for anything other than calls, checking facebook and emails and checking dr1. I'll look into it.

I just want to get email authorization.

I had a similar problem with my Canadian bank and there was no way that they would use email authorization. They of course didn't like my Dominican phone number either, so I gave them my brothers phone number to send their code. He then emailed the code to me.

Do you try to access Paypal account set up in the US without a VPN ?
It is possible that they see your connection from DR and then don't like your US number as that not match.

I had similar issues with a Western Union account setup in the UK, which did not let me transfer when I logged in from the DR. Nowadays I use a VPN to connect to a UK server so that the WU app/website will see me as being in UK and let me transfer money from my UK accounts.

These kind of geo-fences are put in to stop hacking attempts but are a hassle for genuine users who travel.

Also you can install add Paypal to Google Authenticator or any 2FA app via a QR code from your Paypal account and then use the code to login on your computer. You dont have to use the Paypal App on your phone

I had the same problem I think with Netflix(?). It wouldn't accept my DR phone number. I had to call customer service and it had to be escalated before I was finally able to change the number to a US Skype number. They didn't have the option for email verification either - said it was not that secure. That wasn't the only time I had a problem with a DR phone number. Problem is, there is no way for them to verify the number.

To clarify - once set up with a two-factor app on your phone, you would still be able to use PayPal on your computer and only need to input the code provided by the app when asked for. Similar to what Banco Popular and others used to do with a token for a security code, and now a digital token as far as Banco Popular goes. I use about 6 different websites (banks, etc) on my computer that need the two-factor authorization, and it's pretty easy. Hope you find a solution that works for you

I haven't been able to acceess my PayPal account since 2022 from the DR, only while in the States. I called them several times in order to try resolving the issue and they basically told me tough shit. Haven't used them since.

Interesting. I just logged in to check. Both mine and my wife's accounts have no problem.

I can log in. Update info. All that is ok. Only when I try to transfer money from my bank to Paypal do they ask for my phone to send a text verification.

I've used PayPal debit card for at least 15 years from DR and never had this problem . I have not been to USA in 14 years. I've always done my banking transfer from bank to Paypal. No issues. I use PayPal for all my Pedidoya orders. This is all within the last few months.

I did connect my bank checking account so at least if here's no money in Paypal the will take it from my bank. That will at least deal with the transfer stuff until I finally get my bank debit card.

I'll call them tomorrow and see what's up. Again.

I have a PayPal Visa card I use from time to time down here without any problem at all but after speaking with someone in their fraud department multiple times back in 2022 about not being able to log into my account, I gave up.

Interestingly enough I actually set up my PayPal account from the Dominican Republic back in 2015 and it worked without any problem for several years but not any more.

Just so all understand . My Paypal account works fine. I can log in, receive money sent by others, pay Amazon, Pedidoya and other things without problem. I can use my Paypal debit card and check balances. The only thing I am recently having issues with is adding money to Paypal from my bank. It asked for my phone number to send a validation confirmation code. Says my phone number is invalid and I cannot complete the transaction. It used to let me get email validation code but not now. . I reconnected my bank to Paypal so when I go beyond my pp balance it will take money out of my bank until I get this fixed.

Once paypal flagged your account they will never stop asking for further verification. Better set up a new email and a new paypal account.
