I hate to say it but that's another Petty scam what really strikes me funny is when I walk into jumbo at 8:00 in the morning and I give the lady a 2,000 pesos and then she tells me she doesn't have change and then I tell her I'll wait here until you get change and I don't care how long the line is and then I rip into her and say it's 8:00 in the morning how can you not have change and of course I get the dumb look
Why "rip into" the poor employee. She has what the bosses and the office give her. It's not her fault. Go to the office and complain. Or are you only a tough guy to the poor lowly employee lady?

I used to work as a retail associate as my first ever job many moons ago. You get a fixed amount of change when you start and the assumption really is that nobody comes in to purchase a 1 EUR item with a 50 or 100 EUR bill. That's common sense. You can ask if they can change a bill of course.

You did not mention how much was your total was, whether this was more of a giving you the change or more like changing the bill...

So unless they would have not offered the change at all, I don't even see how is this a scam?

To repeat part of my first post:

"I've been using pedidosya regularly for the last few years, and it's been pretty painless up until a few weeks ago."

That is anywhere from 2-4 deliveries per week for numerous years. That's a lot of deliveries, and never a problem.

I've never charged to a CC, always COD.

I found it odd I had three issues within a week, and that was what I was posting about.

To adapt, from now on I will only order if I have the correct change to pay. Simple.

It's funny because I do not have these experiences others complain about. While of course we have had issues here and there, it is nowhere near as bad as some here post.
Very same here. You can often also influence things by your own behavior.

I have to agree. Now it could be because of my gringoness. I do try and blend but I suspect my accent and 1st grade Spanish may give it away. Regardless, I find customer service is often above and beyond. 2 examples:

1. I needed help on my SmartFit app at the gym last Sunday. The guy who helped me was awesome. Did everything I asked for and more.
2. I was just at Mundo del Jugete across from MegaCentro to buy a remote control car for my great nephew's bday today. They literaly ran to help me, both a guy and a lady. Just awesome service.

Do Dominicanos/as get the same service? I don't know but you can color me impressed.

Do you remember years ago when they gave your change back in those Halls (like) candy. I have never tried pedidosya but you would think when your ordering COD they would at least know enough to have some type of change.

I was taught by the locals to not use large denominations in these situations as the person on the other side of the transaction will probably not have change (this goes for Ubers/taxis, colmado deliveries, PedidoYas deliveries, etc.)

If in the moment I only have a high denomination bill I notify in advance (either via message in the app or when ordering from the colmado) so appropriate arrangements can be made.

The people providing the service don't have a "bank" to be able to provide change as they live day to day.

On the app there's a "CC or efectivo" option where you write the amount you have.

The people who do deliveries do not see that message on their app. If you write it on the item you're ordering, the message usually doesn't make it to the driver.

Apparently they presume the driver should have the money to make change.
