I have nothing to comment on your post but I am curious, why did you choose that screen name? (yes, I saw the movie).

He's my favorite character from cidade de deus . Best movie that I've seen in my life!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the time when having an afro was en vogue.

Question for AZB,
Would you rather come back as a comfortably living middle-class blackman with pelo malo or come back as a "chayanne/imran khan" pelo bueno living in Poverty??
Hahahaha, I don't think you would want to hear my answer. Hahahahah

I didn't think you would choose to bathe out of bucket, live in a shack and drink brown water, just so you could comb your nice wavy hair, hahaha.

I am joking ricardo, some of my favorite actors are blacks. I see any movie with denzel washington in it. pelo malo or bueno has nothing to do with a person's looks but more to do with their class. Many folks have pelo malo but they carrry themselves with pride and class. Thus their race becomes unimportant. I admire the man who played the black president in 24 hours TV series. His presence alone makes him look handsome and heroic. he talks with command and carries himself as a real president should, not bush. So does it matter if he has pelo malo or bueno?
I have complains against folks who dress like gangsters and walk around with hot barrio hair cut. These pelo malo types have no class.
Now if you look at my photo, you would guess that I would be happy with any type of pelos.
Have a nice day everyone.

haha, I knew you were joking, I remember you posted the situation of your black friend who couldn't get into Francifol, too bad. I myself am a black american and the people in Santiago welcomed me with open arms. Maybe the chicas from the University (UTESA) see Green first, hahaha.

But to keep it real, everybody grew up in this society believing that long straight hair is beautiful and that's the way it is. Women of color will continue to spend millions of dollars a year on hair straightening chemicals because that is what they want and I for one will not Knock-em for it.
Check out whose on the covers of Ebony, Essence, Black Men Magazine, Jet, so on and so forth. Check out whose in all of the R&B and Rap videos. And if a perm won't do it, they'll weave it in. I say if women want to wear their hair natural, god bless-em.

I agree with this quote. The content of one's character far out weighs his or her skin color or the condition of their hair. How very boring it would be if we all looked alike. Viva la difference! Yvette

I disagree. It is much better to be bald. This way, you do not have to spend a fortune and tons of time straightening out your pelo malo.

Also if bald being at the bottom, but excuse me, I don't remember the last time I spent 7 hours in my favorite beauty salon straightening my hair with construction grade materials.
Hahahaha.

Larry honey, you are cool in my book. You carry your baldness with such grace, unlike certain people my husband and I know. I know men (whose names shall not be mentioned) that would put cow sh** on their scalp if someone told them that it would mean getting two new hairs. Trully sad.

Hubby and I have have agreed that should he ever lose his mane (that he keeps trimmed in a military style) he'll shave it. If he ever attempts to do a Donald Trump-like industrial-grade comb-over, or any kind of comb-over I have his permission to shoot him out of his missery. I hate when men cling to scraps.

And AZB, can't you read? I already admitted that I have wavy/curly hair depending on the wheather. No chemicals here honey, of any kind, I am all organic.

Excuses for Pelo Malo in adult life

Dominicans have the following excuses for a person who had flowing straight hair as a child and now has curly to coarsed hair as an adult.

1- The stylist had her period while cutting the girls hair and this is why the hair turned coarsed.

2- The barber gave the boy a bad hair-cut or that he used a clipper instead of the scissors and this is why the hair turned coarsed.

The thing is that most of them do not think it is bull****. They believe to be true as the belief of opening the refrigerator after ironning and dieing.
