eating should be about taste to anyone.

It's this reasoning that causes millions to die of malnutrition while 30-200 lbs. overweight. You have a digestive system for one reason only....to absorb and distribute nutrients needed by your body to perform properly. Abuse of this system often results in type 2 diabetes, hypertension, gout, acid reflux, diverticulitis and clogging of the arteries.

Eating IS about nutrition and if you allow your taste buds to be the sole deciding mechanism then you will be paying a very high price in the long run. A proper diet is far more important than a good health insurance plan. If insurance companies spent 1/10th the money promoting exercise and proper dietary habits as they do lobbying Congress the premiums would drop so low that anybody could afford them. If the poor spent as much on health insurance as they spent on fast food there would be no need for "Obamacare". What you're advocating here is the bundling of a box of Band-Aids with the sale of every knife.

money is the only international word you need to know.....

Well, I certainly understand what you are saying, and agree with it, but unfortunately, that is the problem. ?Rich? people wave their Dollars (or Euros or Yens) and people in the developing world essentially have to dance to that tune. People all over Europe have to learn German for the same reason. And soon we will all have to start to learn Mandarin.

And as someone who dances to the tune that my client plays, I certainly understand it. I am happy to dance for money; I use language of my client?s business, to my ideas into their terms. But the thing is, that not too many people in the developing world have the type of prostitutional attitude to money as I or others (especially those in the developed world) have. A lot of people resent it. They resent being poor, resent having to dance for money, and resent what they perceive (rightly or wrongly) as a self-centered, egotistic attitude of the ?rich? Americans or Europeans. It is then no wonder that to many people in the developing world a gringo is nothing but a walking wallet which needs to be picked. Not as human beings, but simply as source of money to keep their family fed.

If we use money as the only international language, then no wonder that ex-pats or tourists are viewed so.
