La musica, el ritmo de la vida!
Well, nobody jumped on that bandwagon any later than me. December 10, 2002 to be exact. Everything I know about salsa/merengue/bachata, etc I learned in a hole-in-the-wall club in Santiago and from the fine folks at DR1. I am enjoying my education immensely. I didn't realize I was supposed to reply to your Email, Joseito, but I have used all the information you supplied to become a more discriminating buyer of 'latin dance' music. I can go on Half.com, search on Bonny Cepeda and get over 100 results. All the artists that he has produced or CD's he has guested on! It's amazing.
I don't do downloads. It could be a subconscious revolt against my teenage children (I have three). We must have 300 CD-R's scattered in and around four cars and one house. My wife buys 'em buy the gross, I swear. Half are unlabeled. They're constantly underfoot. There's a pile on the kitchen counter. I find them in the bathroom. I have to push them off the driver's seat if one of them has borrowed my car. They're like them Tribbles from Star Trek. They multiply in the dark. They're everywhere!!!!
Boy, did that turn into a rant or what? I don't have enough steam left to rail on southern rock. I did see the Marshall Tucker band within the last five years, I think. They played after an arena football game when st louis still had a team. Maybe 200 people stayed. It reminded me of watching Bob Gibson trot in from the bullpen as a reliever. It's over.
Stevie Ray Vaughn transcends categorization. He's the 'awe' in 'awesome.'
Saw the Allman Brothers in '71. Didn't really know who they were, but a friend of mine told me "you don't wanna miss this." He was right.
