The Superintendence of Electricity denied that the announced adjustment in tariffs is already in effect. The measure had been announced for implementation in November.

Nevertheless, consumers have received major increases of 100% or more in their billing. The increase in billing coincides with the peak consumption months of August and September.

The Superintendence had announced the new billing would go in effect as of 1 November 2021. The government had said the increases would be gradual, instated over a five year period.

Since the rates have not yet changed, does that mean people who weren't paying are finally paying the old rates?

Wealthy Dominican's do not care.
Poor Dominicans certainly do. Just in time for Christmas. I recall a few months ago this administration claiming rates would not double over night, that it would be a gradual increase over the span of two years. If yall think cost are going up now, there's a major tax reform on the horizon and who's willing to bet instead of closing some these ridiculous loopholes, they'll just pile on more taxes?

My last electricity bill was

Cargo fijo RD$137.25

Energia 1205 kWh x RD$11.10 = 13,375.50

Total 13,512.75 pesos

I doubt that it will double, I am already paying the highest rate 11.10 pesos per kWh. But I will report here next month, if I will not get banned again earlier LOL.

Ours has not after paying October 4. In fact it went down 100 pesos or so. We will see about next month.
Same here. But I did notice on my 'MiConsumo' weekly report I was getting up there so I turned off a few indicator lights.
Came in a 299. That was close!

So far I haven't noticed any dramatic increases and I have nine separate accounts.
My two both went up slightly. One has been waiting on a meter for 8 months but EdeNorte can't find one so it's a flat rate.
Corraplata went up too and I've used less water this month than any previous

I wish I would have paid attention to mine. I went over by 6kw and entered the higher billing price.

As someone predicted that with the rising electric rates, price of propane will also be going up.
2-3 weeks ago the price was $127.10 for months, today it was $134.10.

We still have an old fixed rate contract, it went up 50%, house has been empty since March 2020. Only electric used now is for some outside lights, the inverter and occasionally the water pump.

We had one of those, once!

But as soon as they realized my husband was an American, we were rewarded with the first electric meter in the immediate area.
