Things vary greatly even within communities. In Sosua, for example, there are very tight restrictions generally thoughout the whole of El Batey. But not so much in Charamicos, Sosua Abajo and Maranatha (aside from Highway 5). Get off the highway in those 3 areas and it's quite a bit different.

I just got back from my afternoon Malecon walk. Nobody in the water in Andres and probably < 50 peeps in the water in Boca Chica. Cops there sitting and enjoying the shade.

Too many restrictions for my liking.
I have enjoyed the last several nights walking across the sand, for a moonlight dip. Unbothered.

Unfortunately Winded, there's a whole world out there outside of Everything Cab. Most small towns it depends on the relationship the volks have with the Popo. In Dingo, you only see the curfew cam circling round with the boys in blue in the ghet-tows.

My family is Dominican. I am the only gringo in it. They live in Santiago, Jarabacoa, Santo Domingo and other towns near those locations. I fully understand what the DR is like outside of Cabarete. Other than that I have no idea what your point is.

Of course people have violated the regulations in place. I personally know people that have. Dominicans violate laws that have been in place for years, the short term regulations are less important to many. It really is not about any lack of real picture that I see. I completely understand every locale will have different situations. I have extended family throughout the DR.

It is about what is and is not legal. I am not going to take any chances that would put me overnight in the Cabarete jail.

Pretty soon everyone will have to do what they want without the restrictions in place that may or may not have an impact on them.

If you want to stay home, then stay home, but don't force me to do so. Social distancing of the kind people will actually do was never going to stop this type of virus. This virus is here to stay. I was thinking that the Chamber of Deputies might not have a quorum again on Friday. What is the procedure if they don't have a quorum again? Could they vote with fewer people, or would the SOE just simply expire with no legal need to vote no on renewing it?

How unique. I'm sure you understood, then, that in the small towns the room to break the rules depends on the relationship the townspeople have with the police. The strict enforcement of the curfew is left to the major city ghettos where the press folk like LD and DL can Livestream enforcement protocol for the sheeple. The PLD like it that way.

I am from NY. I have family in many states and via professional and friend network almost all states, Germany, Switzerland, The Queens Land, Norway Sweden Denmark, Netherlands, Japan, India, Pakistan, Mexico, Ukraine, Italy. I know of ONE person, a cop in Jersey who was ill, but never confirmed from a test. Something isn't right!

Yes, you noticed I said I am the only gringo in my family. My immediate family from upstate NY are all dead. That is why I say all of my family is no Dominican. Soon even I will be a naturalized DR citizen. No reason to ever go to NY again for family obligations. Thank god for small favors. I really don't like the northeast of the USA .

Yes, I understand far too well what Santo Domingo is like. I hate it there. Despise it there. Hate having to go there for government business that can only be done there. Jarabacoa once in a while is OK, but I have been there too many times as well. My wife and I prefer Cabarete. At least we are finally getting the road paved while taking advantage of near zero tourism during this unusual time. If the president gets his extension matters far more to the local business people than it does to me.

I don't know anyone personally that tested positive for CV19 and I do have a lot of extended family in the US.

My first ex-wife is probably still alive, if that counts. The second one died of cancer. I had one brother who died of early onset Alzheimer's.
Otherwise I have no relative closer than a cousin from back home. One of the reasons I picked a non-US location to live, I suppose, albeit a minor one.

Poor Spanish, perhaps . I am sure you think you know. Unfortunately I studied French. That is why I know Canadians don't speak it.

I have been in Cabarete since 2003, your math is a bit off. But yes, my wife learned English quickly and that discouraged me from becoming fluent in Spanish. I did get 100% correct in my DR Naturalization exam and that happens to be in Spanish, if you didn't know. I am waiting for this CV19 stuff to end so that specific MIP office will open and swear me in. Unfortunately that will require a trip to Santo Domingo.

I just don't let on how much Spanish I do or don't know. That works well for me. I can read the news in Spanish. I was watching live the attempt to get a quorum in the Chamber of Deputies and that was in Spanish. But, I don't let on what I know. As I said, it is better that way for me. I will check again on Friday to see what is up with this SOE game.
