President Luis Abinader was in Samana on Friday, 17 November 2023 to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremonies at Piñero Group’s Cayo Levantado islet property in Samana Bay. The Spanish hotel chain renovated the luxury resort’s 218-room hotel at Cayo Levantado in Samana Bay and reopened to customers this summer.
Speaking at the event, President Abinader noted that the EUR$50 million investment carried out by the Spanish hotel group in the renovation is part of US$4.1 billion in Foreign Direct Investment foreign companies have injected into projects in the Dominican Republic so far this year. President Abinader said the forecast is for FDI to reach US$4.4 billion in 2023.
Abinader also mentioned that his administration is investing RD$1.7 billion in the Samana Bay region.
