With all the roadworks going on they have completely crucified the Colonial Zone to the point that hardly anyone is going there. The Cuesta looks like it's about to shut down and even the Nacional is half-empty these days. There are almost no shops at all on the Conde other than fast food and souvenir shops, and it just looks really sad. Maybe things will turn around as high season comes, but those businesses rely heavily on locals coming during the 8 months of the year that aren't high season, and if nobody can park it's a big issue.

As long as I can remember the Conde has been a depressing place, starting with all of the pervs at the entrance at the cafeteria.

I like the Conde it a microcosm of the country. One end is like a barrio the other side is high end with some nice restaurants and a beautiful park. Love it on Sundays. Full of characters . Can't find this type of place anywhere in Santo Domingo. It IS TRUE DR

I went there last month and it was pain to get in if you drive. Better to take an Uber

Just getting in and out (driving) of that area is a pain. I know that is one reason I did not go there often. Though there are a couple of restaurants in the area that I like.

I only go there on a Sunday and even then not that often. I have found parking on Marti about 1 or 2 blocks up from Parque Enriquillo and then walking down Duarte to Restauracion to Arzbispo Moreno is fairly easy. I would not try on a day other than Sunday because parking even on Marti would be a pain.

I haven't been over by Parque Enriquillo in a long time. There used to be a place across from the park that made the best morir sonando but that was a long time ago.
