El Presidente would be wise to let the Secretary do most of the talking, less possibility of El Presidente offending the Trump administration, not wanting the DR to be thrown under the guagua.

Main points touched in the press conference:

- US cooperation for finding and mining the rare soil of the DR. It will be an official start in a few months.
- US cooperation in the further development of the Dominican electrical sector and the interest of selling electricity to Puerto Rico.
- US cooperation in the development of a Dominican semiconductor industry and turning the DR into a hub for that sector.
- US cooperation with the fight on drugs, crime, etc with the Dominican Republic.
- DR and US has signed an agreement for the establishment in the DR of US Customs and Border Patrol agents.
- The US compromises to continue with the stabilization of Haiti.
- The US will not be pressuring the DR to accept a massive immigration from Haiti.
- The solutions of Haiti’s problems are the responsibility of the Haitians, not the Dominicans. The US will continue to help Haitians, but the solution lies on them only.
- Once Haiti is stabilized and the gangs are eliminated, there is an interest from the US to many of the American companies with factories in other countries (ahem, China, Vietnam, etc) could be transferred closer to Haiti and create Haitian jobs. None of that is impossible without first stabilizing Haiti.
- In December all democratic countries in the Americas will have a meeting and the topic will be all the major issues each country is facing.

That's a lot about Haiti when supposedly the DR is not the solution for Haiti. And he doesn't visit Haiti but talks about it all the time.

The US does need those rare earths, but perhaps a little less with Trump dismantling the climate accords.
- US cooperation in the further development of the Dominican electrical sector and the interest of selling electricity to Puerto Rico.
Stupid is as stupid does. Fix the problems here in the DR and delete the EDEs.
- US cooperation in the development of a Dominican semiconductor industry and turning the DR into a hub for that sector.
That is the biggest stretch discussed , along with fixing Haiti , of course.
- US cooperation with the fight on drugs, crime, etc with the Dominican Republic.
Totally expected based upon the 50 plus year effort in futility. There is too much money to be made to stop the failed war.
- DR and US has signed an agreement for the establishment in the DR of US Customs and Border Patrol agents.
So the agents will be where and do what?
- The US compromises to continue with the stabilization of Haiti.
Lip service and nothing at all will be done. That will be the ultimate "compromise"..
- The US will not be pressuring the DR to accept a massive immigration from Haiti.

At least Haitian's responsibility for Haiti was pointed out. But once Haiti is stabilized? Good luck with that. Centuries down the road?

Windy. I thought my post about you becoming the US-Haitian ambassador would amuse you. One has to keep one’s sense of humour in these crazy times, otherwise we would go batshite crazy. 🤪
