The new Prime Minister of Haiti Ariel Henry announced Wednesday, July 7 that President Jovenel Moïse was assassinated on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday.
"At around one in the morning, on the night of Tuesday July 6 to Wednesday July 7, 2021, a group of unidentified individuals, some of whom spoke in Spanish, attacked the private residence of the President of the Republic and thus fatally injured the head of the 'State,' the head of government announced in a statement. "Condemning this odious, inhuman and barbaric act", the Prime Minister calls "the population to calm" and assures that "the security situation of the country" is "under control".

The serving president of Haiti was assassinated at his home early Wednesday morning, the government said. He was 53.

Jovenel Moïse was killed in his private residence in Port-au-Prince around 1 a.m. local time Wednesday by a group of assailants, Haitian Prime Minister Claude Joseph said in a Wednesday statement. The first lady was also injured by gunshot, the statement said.

Joseph was now in charge of the country, Agence France-Presse reported.

Joseph's statement did not identify the assailants, but said they were Spanish-speaking. The main languages spoken in Haiti are Haitian Creole and French.

The attack on Moïse followed years of protests against his government, and calls for his resignation. Moïse has served as Haiti's president since February 2017.

Joseph described the attack as "odious, inhumane, and barbarous."

Mexican cartels are taking over Haiti.
They armed the gangs with high caliber weapons and now took care of the president as well. All bets are off now for Haiti.

This is a very sad ending for this man and let’s hope not fit his wife as well.
Truly sad 😔 for Haiti as a country that even the president can be killed so easy.
Haiti will explode soon enough.

First president of the Americas to be killed in the 21st century. I don't think the first lady of any American country has been killed too. This is horrible and speaks loudly of the critical level insecurity has reached in Port-au-Prince. If the president and first lady can't be protected, no one can.

Hopefully, the crisis in Haiti is contained to that country.

RIP

Mexican Cartels in Haiti. So that was the reason the assassins spoke Spanish. Hmmm

Very interesting and very bad if true.

If you read Dolores’s news, they had Colombian/Venezuelan accents. Same career path but different countries
How many of the assassins were killed or captured? Should be easy to identify as Hispanic etc. No casualties, obviously from within.

That would make more sense I guess. My first thoughts were why would Mexican Cartels want to do something like that south of Mexico. All the money is to the North of them. But Colombian/Venezuelan cartels would probably like an easier path North with their products. Of course, if all this is true, we're going to have one humongous gang war between the Mex and South American cartels.

With the existing gang violence and extreme corruption it really is not surprising that this happened. The big question is when will another country step in to help. Do they let these criminals go at it for a while and self clean some of the problem or move in quickly before they can get better organized?

Either way at some point there will be someone stepping in. Hopefully they will rid that country of the gangs and corruption once and for all. Unfortunately a lot more innocents will be killed in the process.

One of the early reports I read this morning said there was an "American English speaker" in the group of assassins. Mercenary perhaps?

I think you'll find that the new government of Haiti is going to suddenly love the idea of injecting their citizens with the Covid bioweapons.

They've been fighting against it but now - with the sound of gunshots and assassinations - they will be importing lots and lots of the Covid voodoo juice.

Just another day (night) at the office for the Covax Death Squads.

Internal deep cleaning... could take a long time, or never happen.
