I believe the people had enough of this guy and got him whacked. Those reports of guys speaking English and Spanish is irrelevant as I don’t think this would have happened without his security forces allowing it to. He was suppose to be the most secured person in the country.

Remember this: Haiti has a long history of killing their leaders when they show signs of wanting to be a dictator.

This video contains two videos taken by security cameras outside the house. On the second one the shots are heard. It seems they were shooting at everything that moved. What seems like a granade exploding can also be heard. A mini war took place in that part of Port-au-Prince. This clears up that the president was intended to be killed.

The UN and international hand wringing continues, everyone feigns shock in regard to the Haitian situation.

"A UN peacekeeping force was put in place in 2004 to help stabilize the country, and only withdrew in 2017, but the turmoil has shown no sign of ending."

Meanwhile Abinader responds.

The First Lady of Haiti has arrived at South Florida to continue her treatments and recuperation. She will be at the Baptist Hospital in Miami, in case anyone wants to go and see if a support/grief/flowers/candles/etc area for the First Lady and her kids will be developed by or inside the property.

Maybe you could give just one name of a Haitian leader killed. The violence in Haiti was mainly in the time of Papa Doc when his armed forces cruelly crushed all opposition but this is the FIRST murder of a president in office according to the records .You also have not the slightest idea at this stage who killed the President . Haiti declares state of emergency following presidential assassination

https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.6092745

It was reported earlier today that the gunmen claimed to be DEA, which was quickly refuted. It seems more likely that the increased gang activity and now possibly the assassination were funded by cartels. If this is a cartel based turf war, I imagine it could get quite ugly.

This was the Only place that mentioned that as all of us here have noted. Glad somebody was close enough to hear.
This morning a Haitian reporter calls from Port-au-Prince a Dominican radio station and says on air that there were Colombians and Venezuelans among the assassins.

There was a Jovenel Moïse as the image created by the opposition (and which greatly jeopardize his rule during the last few of years) and the Jovenel Moïse as he truly was.

Haiti lost one of its greatest men, one whose economic policies would had created during the next 20 to 30 years a different Haiti with an industry to speak of, tourism, much more active commerce, a growing middle class. With his death, all of that is in jeopardy and hopefully Haiti continues down the path already estsblished. The problem with Haiti is that there are too many people that are easily overtaken by the opposition and rather than seeing the salvation with current pain, prefer to reduce the current pain for what is, basically, an uncertain future. Too many people that simply doesn't understand how things truly work.

The real motives for this barbaric act is still to be determined, but Haiti lost a leader with a good head on his shoulders and the heart in the right place, who truly wanted the best for his country even if many thought the complete opposite. Eventually, Haiti will look back and see it, and only then will begin to see the grave error that was done early today and the horrible way the Haitian society began to treat his rule.

Haiti is not an easy country to govern and the only way it will get out of the hole it's in is if the leaders are unwavering, determined, and strong willed. Otherwise you will be trampled and turned into a pulp. Unfortunately for him, the opposition got the upper hand on his image and did great damage in later years. They were not able to trample and turn him into a pulp, but they certainly tried and gained partial success in destroying his image.

May Jovenel Moïse rest in peace and Haiti learn to see people as they truly are and not a distorted image of themselves.
