I think at this point their reputation as a builder is done. The Connections project is overpriced, underbuilt, way late, and when all the people move in and see what they could have got for their money with all the other builders - will not be speaking highly of them.

Casa Linda should be looking to replace all their management team in an attempt to save face.

If I'm not mistaken, CL's management & principal investors are one in the same. Hardly likely to replace themselves.

Looks like we have a new condo project starting on Kite Beach. Across from the Method Lodge, next door to Agualina to the west and Windchimes on the East.

No pre sale or anything, and a bunch of dump trucks dumping caliche.

Icon Cabarete is one of the three projects by Argentine builders (The other two being Eden Cabarete and the Cabarete Country Club).
Behold this endevour:

Leonardo.jpg

DEVELOPER:

“I have been coming to Cabarete since I was a teenager and got hooked on kiteboarding. It was always easy to come since I had family living in the country and would always visit. As I grew older and travelled the world, I realized what a magical place Cabarete is. The amazing conditions for kiting, the unpretentious beachfront living, the community…I don’t know what it is that makes me love this place so much. Over the years all my friends that I have invited here are marveled and always want to come back, so it’s not just me. When the 2019 pandemic hit, I was stuck in Cabarete and I never left since. In the meantime, having sold my business and being unemployed, I started buying up property to develop unique projects. I broke the mold with my first one, EDEN, offering ultra-lux extra-large ocean front properties. I also purchased an abandoned golf course that I’m converting into a proper country club, started doing events to bring people in off-season, and even purchased an existing 60-bedroom hotel to refurbish. When I do projects, I’m inspired to do ones that are amazing, that have a jaw dropping wow-factor, and that will stand the test of time. I’m sure all this ecosystem we’re developing will soon turn Cabarete into the worldclass destination it deserves to be.
Now it’s time for ICON, the best beachfront residential resort the North Coast has ever seen. I’m really excited about this project: I hope you can proudly call it your home.”
Leonardo Wehe
ICON is located on one of the last remaining beachfront lots in Cabarete Bay, right between the historical residential complex Bahia de Arena and the Viva Tangerine Hotel. It is sufficiently far away from the town’s center, but close enough to the action.

It is also perhaps one of the only parts of the entire bay that is not affected by seasonal erosion and sand shifts. It is perfectly situated to receive the NE side/onshore winds that are not affected by the East point of the Cabarete Bay: the wind blows diagonally to launch your downwinder straight from the shore. The total land surface is more than 24,000 square meters and has an exceptional linear exposure to the beach of 130 meters.

The beachfront orientation is NE (sunrise facing), and the road/access orientation is SW (sunset facing).

He's working with Sarah Garcia. This may be her biggest project ever. Some big things happening:

CCC Beach Club? What is that? I'm on Cabarete Beach almost every day and haven't seen anything of that name. Maybe it's the old Kahuna bar that they're renovating.

Windy can correct me, but I think it is where he lives - cannot think of the name!- Costa Azul? It was originally owned by Juan Perdomo and planned as a 9 hole golf course, I do not think there are any signs. Except I am seeing signage for a community center and have no idea if this is the same project or something different. I cannot keep up with all the construction! Thank goodness I am off the beaten path in Jamao.

It is the restauant the Lydia used to own that will be a new part of the Cabarete Country Club. Lots of paintings on the wall back when she owned it.

No, not Kahunas.

Correct. It is still called Costa Azul Golf and Beach Club. After about one hundrend years in the courts we supposedly know where the beach part is, but that is a story for another day.

We had a 9 hole golf course that fell into disrepair and was abonded by Perdomo and his minions. A former mayor of Cabarete filled in the wetlands with a thousand or so truckloads of fill and sold those new filled in lots in Public Park Wetlands of El Choco National Park and that turned into La Cienaga where thousands of people now call home and get flooded each time it rains a lot. Go figure, they live ON a Swamp!

Leo will build the Cabarete Country Club, redo the golf couse after they build a 1.5 Km long wall 3 meters high along the La Cienaga side to keep out the riff-raff and then proceeed with golf course, tennis, pickle ball, restaurants villas, including the one on Cabarete beach for members, and condos, etc. (and don't forge Eden and Icon in Cabarete that he is building). I was at the meeting when this was discussed and took notes..

Leo, don't screw 'round as you can see. Costa Azul will have zero to do with the golf course. We will just be surrounded by Leo's projects and the main highway.

Lindsey, I don't yet know where the alleged new Community Center is, but I seriously doubt it has anything to do with Leo.
Leo is into making big bucks selling condos, villas and country club memeberships and appears to be doing well at that.

Perhaps this is what was meant?

Roof Incident | Your Help Is Critical

On August 29, 2024, as the concrete roof was being poured for our new community center, part of the roof collapsed.

Thankfully, no one was injured.

This is an unexpected challenge, but it hasn't discouraged our mission and vision for the center. The youth and their families of our community are counting on us.

More Than Ever, We Need Your Help!

Cabarete
That sentence you highlighted in red is hilarious! First, where is "the Dominican"? Second, to say that English is "literally spoken everywhere" in Cabarete is a complete joke. I hope that no potential buyers fall for this. Thanks for posting this.

I hate that phrase, "the Dominican", but it's usage is pretty common. Dominicans say "La Dominicana". Changing an adjective to a noun seems strange to me.
