Edickson Herrera Silvestre, a capital city councilor from the ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), has turned himself in to face charges of international cocaine trafficking in a federal court in South Florida. He faces three counts that carry a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
Herrera Silvestre, also known as “El Regidor” (The Councilor), was accused by the South Florida court on 5 March 2025, along with alleged accomplices José Eduviges Aponte Torres (aliases: Buby or Meano) and William Durán Jerez (alias: El General). The charges involve three federal counts related to conspiring to distribute, import, and traffic over five kilograms of cocaine into the United States.
