The issue with the over 65 license renewals being every 2 instead of 4 years isn't the frequency.

The problem is that over 65 drivers pay the identical renewal fee, for half the term of validity. In effect, over 65 licenses are twice as expensive.

So, people over 65 have to renew every 2 years, but will only pay half the price of a 4 year renewal each time?

(Why cannot people learn how to write good news articles in the DR? This kind of partial news is quite frequent.)

I would think after this is actually repealed you would be able to change that license for a 4 year one at no charge...............

No, Windy. Until yesterday's news that the inequity was being corrected, the law stood at renewals were valid for two years, not four, for drivers aged over 65, but the price was the same as the four renewal for younger drivers.

It was announced yesterday that the President was going to correct that.

Thank you. When I got a 4 year renewal 2 years ago, they must have missed the fact I was over 65.
Or they put that now defunct 2 year renewal in place after that.

No this just happened now. I renewed earlier this year and got a 4 year license..............

Please, apply the same rules to the US brought in in almost every topic.
Which is often annoying for a non-yankee. Sometimes I learn more about the US than the DR, which is severely depressing.

Correct. It was brought in a short while ago and almost immediately abandoned. Unfortunately, I renews during the brief two year/full price period.
