This is what I was reading in the news :

Violence in public schools
Two deaths and 30 students suffered knife injuries and 25 were assaulted in Santo Domingo public schools. Public school violence is making headlines in the press. Diario Libre highlights that if the parents of children attending the 60 public schools in the National District and the Province of Santo Domingo where weapons were confiscated had a look at these they would not send their children to those schools. Mayor Elba Tavarez, School Police Inspector, said they confiscated 500 weapons, including three guns, 15 home-made guns, 100 knives, 50 machetes, among others. The most vulnerable areas she said are located in Santo Domingo North, East and West, not in the National District. Of these, the most dangerous schools are located in Katanga, Los Mina, Los Alcarrizos, Villa Mella and Gualey.
The government is considering installing metal detectors in the public schools with the highest rates of violence

Can some body tell what electricity are they going to use for those Metal detector ?

They will probably use battery powered ones, like the ones I am told are used at Passion. I am told this, because I have never been to Passion. Also when I wasn't there, I asked the guard if there were batteries in it, and he laughed and said "of course not".

Basically they are just loking for an excuse to write some checks, if the kids want to hurt each other they will find a way.
